Hi fellow members,
Would anyone be interested in a new and up-to-date comparison between the GEN, VSF, and CF 114060 no-date Sub? I've had this idea in the back of my mind for a while, especially after keeping an eye on the great 124060 thread. If there's interest, let me know.
I might be able to find some time to put together a short review.

Another vote for yes! With all the hype on the more aesthetically pleasing proportions of the 124060, my preference is still with the chonky 114060!

Is there anything in particular you think I should focus on in this comparison, something that maybe hasn’t been covered on the forum yet?

I'll try to start that comparison over the weekend. I'll pay attention even to the finer details that haven’t been discussed yet, like the case shape and size, how the winding crown sits against the case, or the execution of the coronet on the clasp. And since I’m quite picky, I’ll do my best to spot something that might not have come up on the forum before.

OP, thanks for volunteering, can't wait to read your findings!
Also I second what other members have said about which parts to retain from either brand to create the best possible 'bitza' without Gen parts.

There’s nothing quite like the gen coronet on the clasp, the shape, the polishing, the execution, it’s simply eye-pleasing. In terms of quality, CF did a great job, it’s well-pronounced and nicely polished. However, the hole in the coronet is more rounded and ends up looking a bit like a fish mouth. VSF, on the other hand, has a better shape, much more gen-like, but the execution is, in my opinion, poorly done. If VSF had focused more on execution and paid the same level of attention to detail as CF did, it would’ve been great.

That said, if you’re considering getting a genuine clasp or flip-lock part, I honestly don’t think it’s worth it for a franken build. Those parts are sky-high in price, around 1000 bucks for a small piece of steel, just because it’s genuine Rolex. In my opinion, it’s not worth it.

So, if you prefer the VSF shape, go for it and maybe have someone improve the polishing a bit. Or pick the CF for its great execution, just keep in mind it comes with the less accurate shape.

Everything I write is just my subjective opinion, but it's based on comparison with the genuine piece. I'm happy to discuss it further. I think we can have a great thread here and learn from each other, since I definitely don't claim to have a monopoly on knowledge.

Bracelet: Many of us consider the ARF/CF 5HF bracelet used on the 114060 as the benchmark and the best currently on the market. And yes, it’s tight and doesn’t rattle much, but in my opinion, it’s actually too tight. The genuine 114060 I have here, which is nearly new, has a bracelet that more closely resembles the one made by VSF in terms of how it moves. In other words, the VSF bracelet is a closer match to the genuine than the CF is. The tolerances in the link articulation are much more in line with the VSF version.

So this might surprise some people, but personally, I’d go with the 7GJ bracelet, give it a proper ultrasonic cleaning, followed by oiling and polishing, and I believe that would bring it very close to the genuine feel.
