Amen to that. To be honest, I did get really curious about the huge debate in the Low Beat Diver Mod sticky on the "huge" call out that is the high-beat sweep, and found people arguing over videos comparing a Rolex and a low-beat AP, and two AP divers (one low beat and the other high beat). It was always pretty apparent to me which one was low-beat the moment the videos started, but I wasn't too surprised when people started saying that they had a hard time seeing a difference (at such a close distance too). I'll be damn honest, most people's idea of low-beat is your standard 7s26 on a seiko 5, and those movements aren't exactly the pinnacle examples of a low-beat (still apparent to me at about 0.5 meters away), and are jerkier than other better examples. My citizen low-beat on the other hand has a much smoother sweep, but is still observably low-beat if I go in for a closer look. It just so happens that each beat has significantly less residual "shake" than the 7s26. For most people, the citizen may as well pass off as 28,800vph. I can't even imagine you'd meet a guy capable of stealth checking out your AP at a 1 meter distance (fucking creepy at this point), and immediately concluding that it's not low-beat. The calibre 3120 low-beat from AP is one of the best examples of a low-beat that I can imagine, and, for an even larger audience than the citizen, this thing is practically masquerading as a 28,800 vph.
I understand why some people would want to question my idiosyncratic preference, and, in all honesty, it's just how I roll. I respect that they want a low-beat movement to minimize the call outs or just for the sake of "closeness to gen." These are, after all, the bread and butter goals of the rep world. Personally, I'm not too worried about either because I am the "instant call out" which, for all intents and purposes, are to my absolute advantage. Nothing beats a good walk in a quaint neighborhood with the sky reflecting off of your timepiece. It's a small reprieve from the conceited, and insecure individuals I incidentally rub elbows with (Though many of my friends and associates are the opposite of this stereotype. There are a lot of these "sad" apples too). It's a small window where my timepiece is free of the notion of how much it costs, and is just plain beautiful. This is probably the sincerest way I can explain why I went for the fantasy route.
