Noob Daytona vs ARF Daytona

I have been asked by some members regarding the crystal mod, will try to explain it in here.

The crystal is too high, about .3 mm. To achiev gen thickness of the watch the crystal needs to sit a little lower. You only want to see the facet out of the crystal.

Now this pic shows the crystal

next step is you put the bezel on the crystal so that only the facet
shows out of the bezel. This needs to be even. Now you will have
some material of the gasket which shows out of the bezel. About
.3 mm. Cut this away with a sharp knife. I used a carpet knife.
All done !

Thank you guru for the post, it's great for us who are just starting with the hobby.
If you have the time, you could do some explanation like this on what would be the process to shave the dial, for using an ARF dial to put in a noob Daytona case.
Maybe that job is not so diy, and has to be done by someone who knows how to do it and has special tools?

I think that will be very helpful for a lot of us.

good choice, 116520 white 904 has better clasp, SEL ond most important, a better bezel!

Gen white dial goes for about 700 euro, hands for about 300 euro.
That is what I would do. With the gen crystal there is no big difference, so I would skip that. I have 1 but you do not see the difference. Important is the crystal modd which is easy to do.

And sorry if i post a noob question, but are the models of question the most recent ones? I read that the V2 model of 116520 should be the best, however these two models do not state they are V2?

the 116520 V2 904 white is the best, the black has bad subdials

Can you confirm that to put Arf dial on Noob u have :
Shave the dial
Cut the feets
Replace the feets like noob and stick it

Guys. I know it's a long thread but you really need to read through it. It is explained at least ten times what has to be done to the dials and why. The reason the thread is 78 pages long is because people are asking the same questions over and over and it's getting out of control

Hi guys,

I have read all the posts on this thread and I’m looking a bit of advice on the Daytona Oysterflex. I have a ARF v1 116500 model, looking to buy the Noob V2 116520 also.

I am also particularly interested in the 116519, as with the RG models I’m hearing the gold wears after a few months so you must get it replated.

Does anyone have any experience with these models? I know there’s a bit of info on the chocolate dial version but not much info on the white gold version.

Would anyone reccommend the ARF or Noob with this and also how does the Oysterflex rubber strap hold up?

I jus receipt my QC about the last NOOB DAYTONA 904L 116520 in white.
Just to share and to be sure about 1 point, the chrono hand doesn't looks align well at 12, maybe its me ...

If you see something else that i miss ...
All the rest looks find to me.

- Shaved gen gasket to take gen crystal at close to gen height.

- Swapped gen bezel for another gen bezel with milled edge on the underside - as many know, the lip on the ARF causes a gap to case for gen bezel if not modded.

Gen APH dial, rep hands relumed to match SL on dial. Shaved pushers at 2 and 4. Serviced movement.

Nothing more will be done to this piece for a long time.
