here here! It is my opinion that Obamacare is flawed, heavily flawed but as I said it passed so that is that. Holding a country to ransom by blocking supply when you don't get your way is just plain wrong. I don't like it when it happens here either (as it inevitably does now and again, very rare tho) regardless of which party is responsible. Basically it's blackmailing and/or holding to ransom the duly elected representatives of the people.

Well said!
Our Boss here is from Australia,,, strange that he would be employing democratic talking points....The entire world sees this as extortion! Not democracy....Laws can't be negotiated, if you don't like a law, win elections and change the law through the democratic process...

Thank You Boss, it's nice to see a person outside of the American bubble sees what's going on here as extortion also...

Knowing the American feeling for the importance of due process I'm genuinely surprised I can't hear the screams of protest from here. Regardless of who they support this should be abhorrent to anyone who understands how government is supposed to work, it's just plain wrong!

Here is my deal on this Pam Pan thingy. (Step Brothers job interview reference.)

I'm a small employer (20) and all of our history for insurance costing will be zeroed out. Meaning, our (knock on wood) relatively healthy work force will have to start out from nothing, which at face value, might be awesome but in the end, it will likely start at a higher fee schedule. Our Insurance broker already told us to be prepared for much higher fees.

Yeah, it's flawed. We will do what is best for our company/people, but there is only so much profit to go toward this expense.

Signed,

Sad Guy who just wants affordable health care for his family. (Coworkers and their families included.)

I empathize with Sad Guy and all the other Sad Guy employers. The initial take is that premiums will only go up dramatically and for those with pre-existing conditions like popcorn guy, the news is not good.

Sadly, we have those reporting news that are within the beltway and predisposed to spinning news to the whims of their respective political leanings, then reporting such spin as fact. Conversely, there are millions of Amercans outside the beltway with a completely different perspective which creates a huge disconnect from politics as usual to what is reality. Reality being, someone is going to pay for the so called "affordable" health care act. Guess who?

Also to add to the exasperation of it all, 75% of Congress health care will be subsidized by guess who again? Poor Mr. Sad Guy and Popcorn Guy are fighting hard against a burdensome and heavy handed government.

I started thinking this country was doomed when i started hearing assholes say a Mexican will do the jobs that regular Americans don't want to do. So go and blame the reps and the dems and the presidency.

The point is that even if all of the bad things that are feared actually materialize and everyone hates so called Obamacare then at that point it will be an easy fix because the masses will vote for officials to change or repeal it....
It's the absolute wrong thing to let forty or fifty politicians blow up the economy because they believe Obamacare is going to blow up the economy,,,jeez! THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS HAS TO BE ALLOWED TO WORK PEOPLE...

A couple of months ago I saw a woman at target. She had track marks up and down her arms and was there with her two filthy children (where's social services when you need them). She had her kids each grab something from the dollar bin and paid for them separately on a government card and withdraw $60 cash back each. Wonder what that money was for?
What Govt card was this? You could see it?. Food Stamps and WIC programs don't allow this and of course Target wouldn't either. It's highly unlikely that this alleged woman with "tracks up both her arms" actually qualified for Unemployment Compensation since you actually have to work and pay in YOUR MONEY to get it back. What other Govt cards are there that I'm missing?

I call total bullshit on this just like the rest of your stupid stories. You didn't eeally see this, did you? You're just repeating the nonsense that you hear. Every thing you have come up with so far has been a regurgitation of the stupidness that Rush Limbaugh and the Glen Becks of the world spout on Conservative talk shows.

my stocks took a 12% dive today.. **** ME DEAD

That's because Obama and Jack Lew came out over the weekend and scared the market with their gloom and doom talk. Markets were fine the first couple days of the govt slowdown

It's an ebt card which does allow you to withdraw money from an ATM or cash back system. Not like food stamp card where it can only be redeemed in stores that sell food. I witness this with my own two eyes and my girlfriend was there and witnessed it as well if you'd like to ask her. So I will restate this is just another way for the government to give people who don't care enough about themselves to help themselves more free stuff on taxpayers dollars

Oh and by the way KBH I did catch your little jab. I have spoken and treated you with respect and honesty through this entire thread the same way I have treated every other member of this forum since I joined. I do not like being called a liar it's something that truly boils my blood. The next time you make a bold allegation such as that you should have evidence. I am asking you kindly to not insult my character or integrity over the open forum again if you an issue with something I say please directly speak to me through PM. That was an incredibly ignorant statement and shows how rude and inconsiderate you truly are. Until you are willing to extend the same respect to me that I have shown to you please refrain from speaking to me. Thank you.

Let's just turn off the TV and think for ourselves. Don't let the media dictate your emotional temperature regarding ACA. And...no one likes fraud, waste, and abuse. By recipients or those in charge. Cheers, all...

The Evergreen State
King is a progressive big government GOP establishment guy. He is no small government constitutional conservative. George Bush was the same way.

A progesssive? Seriously? Nice Fox News talking point. This kind of rhetoric is what divides and weakens the Republican party.

You know the saying, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." As a moderate Republican, I see him as a freedom fighter.

I have to say this: John Birch is dead. So is the validity of the principle that the society's founders held so dear during the Cold War. Today it is largely irrelevant. Let's consider philosphizing in this more complex century with a modern, sophisticated perspective, shall we?

The Tea Baggers will soon fail and limp into obscurity; just another fad like the Blue Dogs. Anybody remember Pete Geren? Anybody? I didn't think so.

In CA people (if I can call them "people"...) use EBT cards to buy alcohol, tobacco, and pay in strip clubs.
"California: $69 million in EBT funds withdrawn outside the state’s borders in recent years, including almost $12 million withdrawn in Las Vegas."
"Florida: Investigators find that sales of EBT cards at less than full value results in a $2-million swindle."

"This money that the government is putting into indigent families to feed their families, the parasite store owners have found a loophole where they will make money,? said Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood.
Lindo Jolly was handcuffed and taken into police custody on Tuesday. Investigators said Jolly worked at the Citgo and allowed customers to use their EBT cards to buy alcohol and cigarettes at an inflated price and then pocketed the profit.
The Crab Stop pocketed $1.1 million just in the last year, according to police.
"They would buy your card for cash and use that card to either shop for themselves at Sam's Club or make imaginary purchases on that card and then be reimbursed face value of that card,? Chitwood said.
Three arrests have been made, but officials said the investigation will continue.

My point wasn't that fraud doesn't happen. My point was that Target would not in any way be a part of an illegal scheme. And if this alleged woman is buying legitimate items with a legitimate EBT card, any else that you would like to infer about her or the system is pure conjecture. Also, just because there are a few case of mis-use, it doesn't make the whole system either wrong or bad.

It's amazing how the only people that always see these alleged cases of wanton rip offs seem to be hard right Republicans. I was arguing with my own son a couple weeks ago when he posted on FaceBook about "Blacks lining up in front of Walmart of Fridays trying to sell their food stamp money for cash to buy drugs." When I asked for more details about when, where, and how this all happened and what exactly he saw, all of a sudden it became, "Well, I didn't actually see it, but I've heard about it from other people that have."

I'd have sent him to his room with no dinner if he wasn't 30 years old and a lot bigger than me. :spank:

Thats funny, thats what the left says about Che who murdered thousand of men woman and children.

A "Moderate Republican" and your stooping to use the term "Tea Bagger"? Your in great company with Obama, Pelosi, Reid and more of your friends on the left who love that derogatory term for a group of people that just want more freedoms and liberty for the country and less bloating, controlling and over taxing government trying to manage every aspect of our lives.

I guess you are a follower of famous far leftist Sal Alinsky and his Rules for Radicals.

His rule #5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.â€

When you stoop to that level, we have nothing else to debate. Ive already won the argument.

Have a fantastic day

***and for those not familiar with the term "Tea Bagger" I suggest you do a quick google search ***
