You're still better off buying it with the Asian 2836. If you want a Swiss that badly, find one that you know is genuine and have it put in. You can do all this for less than a BK sub, and you will have a more accurate watch.

+1 on this

For the noobies out there, heres the scoop on the Swiss ETAs in the reps...

Theres been alot of reports of people ordering Swiss ETAs in their reps and getting either 1)asian clones or 2)used ETAs or 3)cobbled ETA/clone crossbreeds.
(BK being the only for sure exception to this rule, BK only sells real swiss)
Its not the dealers fault, they are only going by what their suppliers are telling them.
So if you order a swiss from the dealers, its a crap shoot...somtimes the are, somtimes not.

Anyone know whats the tells of the BP Factory DSSD from a Gen?

I bought a BP Factory Sub-C and it was way too small but knowing a DSSD is bigger, i wouldn't mind buying one. Also going to put it on a Nato Strap & use it as my daily beater.

I was about to start a topic just like this. All the reply's have answered all the questions I would have asked except one, My question is if I was to buy the Noob DSSD which is the one I am thinking about getting could I send it to BK to have him do his mods to it at a later date?

Once again thank you guys for all the great info.

Do these new DSSD versions have the correct dial markers? I can't tell on my iPhone.

BK may do the mods, but he's usually got a line of people waiting for watches. It could be a long wait.

Thank you for your reply. Both watches look good enough to wear till such a time that BK can do his mods to the one I get. So I don't think it would be to bad of a thing to have to wait a while to turn something that is already good in to something that will be great.

But why would you buy the noob, when the BP is cheaper and more accurate ? Even with BK's mods, the BP is a more accurate DSSD.

The BP is hands down the most accurate DSSD out of the box.

The BK was the standard for a long time. It's still a great rep. But in this game, someone is always taking it to a higher level. The BP is half the price and a lot more accurate.

Really? Yet all the flaws on the Noob don't?

Apparently you're very knowledgable on DSSD reps.

Would you mind listing what are the specific advantages of the BPs' over the Noobs'?

It seems like the BP has thin numeral bezel font, wrong color lume, nice looking but large and or too flat of a pearl, mediocre SEL fitment etc.

What say you?

Could you list the advantages for the bk noob version ? Other than over pay for a few mods ?

I rather pay for bp and have it modded. Less paid.

Wrong colour lume ? Duuuhh have u ever seen a right colour lume ? On
A bk standard Dssd ?

Have u looked at the bk Dssd timemarkers ? Wrong.

Bp wrong Pearl ? Duuuuhhhh ever seen a perfect unmodded Pearl ?

Compared value for money the bp kick the bk to the corner Any time if
You get a bp with alligned ring text.

What the heck is "bp factory"? I've been away for a while...

It's rumored to be from the same factory that makes the Big Pilot watches. I don't know how accurate the name is, but it's gaining popularity

Andrew calls them "the best big pilot and 5th gen po maker" in his newsletters. I was calling them big pilot factory for a while, but BP factory has taken over. Should start calling them "awesome subc factory"

Anyway, was someone saying the lume color is wrong above? Chromalight is aqua colored - not the dark blue that the older DSSD reps had on the dial, so these new BP ones do have the correct lume. Pearl is awesome, insert is awesome (nice deep black, deep engravings), dial markers are awesome.

Have seen a bunch of misaligned ringlock text, so that's definitely something to watch out for on your QC pics.

SEL. Oh SEL fit. This is a tolerance thing, always has been , always will be. Rep mfg tolerance sucks. It's all over the place. So watch your QC pics with any rolex, that's all. Try to get one with a nice tight fit, because they are all gonna be hit or miss. Mixing and matching bracelet pieces between watches can help you out here sometimes too.

Mine came with the bezel loose as hell (unlike their new sub-cs which have gen bezel construction, these are still the cruddy held on with a wire ones) and it popped right off. But that took all of 5 minutes to fix, so no huge deal there. Just had to take the insert out, put the bezel on and tuck the wire in properly.

Yes, the lume color is plain wrong; As clearly visible to whomever scrolled through this thread and found the Gen vs Rep lume shot a few posts back.

Who said the Noob's was right? The fact is that such a wrong shade of lume makes the superlume on this version a moot point and should be properly relumed if you care about accuracy in regards to luminous material.

I doubt this will get better by sorting through QC pics on this version. Although the one posted did seem particularly bad.

BP has been hit or miss, make sure to superglue your pearl. I've read 5+ instances of pearls falling out and parts are reportedly hard to get.

Sorry to break it to you, but that picture you're talking about is not a BP DSSD.

That watch has thick ass dial marker surrounds, small cg, and dark blue lume. It's not what mine looks like at all.

Edit: It's also got a curved triangle on the bezel, not flat across like the BP one. So I think this is probably an old noob one that was purchased from Sead, and not the new model. He also said he had it relumed by a modder, so the lume color is irrelevant anyway.

I can assure you the new BP model has aqua lume, which, while not the EXACT shade of chromalight (please remember, tritec makes custom colors for OEM use. They will not sell the exact same shade to ANYONE else, so all we can ever get is "very close", not exact) it is as close as it gets.
