I know not everyone has the option, but I'm curious who (that does have the option) actually does it.
I sent in for my LTCH a few weeks ago, picked the pistol I knew I would prefer to carry

and found the holster that I'm most comfortable with
IMG_4515.jpg

now I'm just waiting for that little piece of paper to arrive in the mail.

I've debated on OC CC for a while, and I just can't comfortably wear my holster anywhere that my G21 doesn't print BIG TIME even with the baggiest of sweaters or button up shirts. Plus I don't mind the opportunity to educate my fellow Hoosiers on the legality of open carrying, and all my years in the Army I never concealed, so I don't see the "tactical advantage" that people talk about with CCing.

Honestly really just want to converse with people I know and like (you guys) since the Indiana gun forum I'm on just constantly bickers about the topic.

I carry concealed, only option we have. Though I could be outside with my M16 and the police wouldn't care as long as I'm well dressed, lol.

I carry concealed 100% of the time. I have a current permit (3rd renewal) and can carry open if I choose.

I have never found the need to have open carry as a deterrent to anything. Generally goblins get the idea not to ---- with me because I always look them right in the eye and shake my head as they approach. I can count the instances on one hand where the idiot(s) didn't get the message the first time....

Owners on the state board where I live debate the subject constantly as well. They have "open carry" dinners/meet & greets and such (and we have legal "constitutional" concealed carry here with no permit required).

I say to each their own.

I've been open carrying for a few days now. It's amazing how many people are oblivious to their surroundings. People don't even notice. But that's a good thing, I guess.

Should people be ducking for cover when you come walking in or something? :)

No lol. Just that a lot of the people that finally DO notice kind of get startled when they've been in my vicinity for a while, then suddenly realize I'm carrying. Maybe it's the Army training, or growing up a gun loving farm boy, but I notice people that enter my space that are carrying without really thinking about it. Just surprising to me how oblivious/gun shy people are is all.

I wish they would allow at least concealed carry in all 50 states. I conceal carry in FL and life just feels much more safer, unlike if it was a place like DC. No wonder the crime is so high in cities with strict gun laws. I have a normal revolver from S&W but I am intrigued by semi autos.

Both.... I open carry my glock 19 and conceal my glock 26 on my ankle...

I tried running a back up gun for a week. It's just too much going on for me. But I have enough problems just keeping my jeans from sliding down. I need to buy a good heavy duty gun belt. Then I might try ankle, or possibly small of the back carry again. By the way, I like seeing another guy that likes carrying 2 glocks.

I carry outside the waistband in a tagua black leather holster with no issues(doesn't pull my pants down) and a uncle mikes ankle rig for my 26. No matter what main sidearm I am open carrying, I always have the 26 on my ankle.

But I also don't wear jeans. I usually wear my 5.11 pants

Okay. New guy is about to get some grief...... Why carry open? Because you can? Get a permit and go about your business concealed.

Isn't because he can reason enough? I choose concealed, and can do either without a permit in my state, but we are all individuals and can exercise our rights in any way we choose.

Brandon, not that this will probably ever apply, but IF I were a bad guy and about to make a serious play, the first thing I'd do is neutralize any potential threats, which would include any capable-looking hombres that are openly advertising that they're packing.

And I wouldn't inform you to your face. I'd "inform" you to the center of your back. Twice. (And then one in the head, of course).

Just saying you might be sacrificing a tactical advantage, if the tango knows you're carrying, but you don't know he is.

Likelihood? Probably low. If open carry/deterrence is more to your liking, I say go for it, brother. ;)

This is why I choose concealment over open carry. A great deterrent is just to be "heads up" all of the time and let your eyes and body language do the talking for you.
