the thing is...most reps are pretty accurate. i can deal with the pearl being slightly off, or the market surrounds being larger than gen. The hands on the exp 2 are so dramatic, having them off so much makes the rep look 100% fake. IMO the new hands on the explorer are what really makes the watch so interesting.

Go with a SL job. They'll need soaked to strip...so just paint the black "floater" marks back on the way the gen hands are painted...and address the orange color too if necessary. This is a job for DarthAlex. I actually think these look pretty good...I'm also liking the latest 16570 40mm Exp.II's available. It's about time they started making them good again...almost comparable to the older, discontinued Noobs. Now they need to bring a real good GMT II classic back.
Looking at Puretime's offering. They all have the same watch I'm pretty sure. There must be a way to get the hands to look a bit more accurate. Overall though, it's a pretty clean looking watch. Always been tempted to buck the SS trend and do one of these in a two tone. Hmmm.....

+1 on the annoyingly wrong hands, i usually dont care about lots of little tells on a cool watch but the new big hands really make this watch.
Now that's a thought. A TT 216570...any idea how to bring the gold accents up onto the watch head...blending it to the gold center links....?? The Subs have the bezel ring and insert font that does it nicely...crown too. Just an 18k crown on this one wouldn't quite do it, I'd think....interesting...but if there's a will...........

Hand surgery perhaps? Are there any other hands that are the same size as the gen Explorer 2? I seem to recall RSH doing some mod to a set of hands that involved splicing and gluing a couple hands together to get a specific look.
rsh did that same thing on a WM9 v2 when converting it to a LV because the eta 2678 mvt. takes a different size hand. But it's not likely any gen or even aftermarket hand sets for this model are available...it's too new. But dam it's a good looking watch.
@dbrinch: hey bud, I'll be trying out one of these new 42mm Explorer II, not from the ebay seller though.
I chose the Asian21J version, it should have the same caseset with the Asian ETA and the "Swiss" versions. Just make sure you ask for the updated version (updated version has a smaller/more pointy CG).
Got my QC pict, it looks the same rep as the ebay seller's video. I'm sure the TD's should have the same watch.

Guys, I was looking at the gen 42mm Explorer II photos and the QC photo that I got, this versions seems to be having a decent size hour and minute hands, does it really look too small/thin? Would someone be kind enough to do a side-by-side photo comparo between the updated versions hands against the gen?
The main flaw that I can see is that the black color surrounding the dial marker and hands are too thin...
