Rolex is not that great

Today, I go to a AD and take a look at the datejust II. It's seems rolex has some quality control of their product. The datejust cyclops is equally crooked like the rep. Some cyclops is even abit out of shape. It's not alot but if you stare hard, you will notice it. I feel a sense of relieved after knowing the gen is like that. I have a rep datejust with the cyclop out of shape by 1-2mm. Now if anybody question my rep, I will know what to rebut them. Haha..

It seems like rolex QC is not that great after all.

Take into consideration that rolex are handmade..
Especially older DJ rolex had cyclops that were a little croocked..
This is much better to later models..
But could also give more indivicual watch to you, if you think that buying the same gen model with someone else and still not exactly the same watch..

Bro, Rolex are mass produced machine make watch.. They are no way like Grand Seiko or Patek which are individual handmade watch.

It is already so disppointing you are paying so much for a mass produced watch. The second blow is their stuff are inconsistent. I heard there is complaint even gen bezel pearl can be a little out of place too.

The only bonus point for owning a Rolex is the most recognise luxury watch brand in the world. And I am very fortunate to just owe the reps... I will never buy a gen Rolex.

I've seen plenty of not-perfectly-centred pearls on gen Rolexes. It's done by hand so there's some error involved, just as with the rep factories. If I bought a gen I'd make damn sure to get one that was perfectly centred. Same applies to date mag window.

Man when i said handmade i ment that parts of the watches are assembled handmade..There are plenty of videos with it..
If you are talking about gen rolex they are the watches that keep great their price , people can have them for decades because they last long and they have a design that makes them look desirable even after 20 years or more..Look at vintage models..
Of course everyone can choose what make fits him best..
The only thing i hate is that rolex watches came really popular and many people own them..Again they did not loose their value..
Of course noone can tell the same about the ceramic models..

Giobo is correct. I know quite a few Rolex owners who have made money off their watches. They hold their value very well.

If or if not the pearls are added by hand or not is absolutely no excuse for them to be off centered!

One could use jigs or fixtures and get those pears and other stuff in the center every single time (same goes for reps).

If I was to buy a $10000 watch and there is shit off centered, the only place that watch will go is in the face of the dealer.

Its crap like that I cant deal with on "luxury" products. The $20 watches at walmart have nothing off center

You know, I've seen a few guys say this on rep forums and i'd like to see proof of that. I think it's an urban legand. You buy a 10k watch and get a pearl like on a cheap rep? I doubt that. Sure you might find a tiny flaw one in a million, but Rolex would take the watch back and make it right in a heartbeat. They would not tolerate the bad publicity. I've seen a sub with an off center cyclops once by about 1/2 a millimeter and a DJ with a slightly misaligned DW..but a crooked pearl?
Now as much as I love Omega, it's a true mass produced watch and I have seen a few not so perfect watches.
I own gens of both brands and mine are all fine.

There have been plenty of Gens posted of Breitling, Panerai, Rolex and others where the factory QC and standards are not what you would expect.

If you been around here enough, you will see them.

Some I can recall. Breitling Seawolf. Everybody raged about the off center lume dots on the Rep. It is why I had mine relumed by Zigmeister. But then, a few photos were posted of Gen Breitling Seawolfs with off center Lume dots?!?! Yes, it was only one dot maybe, and it was just barely off, but still...you are talking a $2800 Gen, you would expect it to be perfect or rejected, apparently not.

Panerai, same thing, the 6 had the lume actually not put on center on top of the dial 6 print. The lume sits on top of the painted dial...yet, the Gen had the lume off to the side on several sections and wasn't centered...for $6K, you would expect better...guess not. Same for some CGs on PAM etc...

With that said, so many reps have such glaring issues other than minor lume applied off center, that is the least of the problems.

I'm amazed at how junky real Rolex bracelets are. They reps really got that right mostly.

Yeah well do your homework...We have plenty of gen owners here. I believe hk45ca (a mod here) had a superficial flaw on his brand new Rolex, and posted a letter that Rolex sent him saying it was an acceptable flaw...We are talking about a 10K watch here...Acceptable flaw lol...There was a thread on it, search it.

I also find it a bit naive that anybody would believe a watch company like Rolex mass produces watches with zero manufacturing errors.

There will be defects... It happens.

If you are seriously thinkin of buying new from the AD you would bring your own loup and a rolled up magazine (check lume) to check every mm of that watch before buying.
