Vanity shots, because I'm vain. And I feel like I've been super critical and harsh on the 26240s. So here I am showing love to my Prof'd 26240 chunky bluey. I've straightened those bezel screws and the chrono hand as much as I can, lubed the gaskets under the bezel and caseback. Tightened all the screws up. The bezel screws need some polishing up :censored:

AP 26240st Franken

I can’t thank @legend enough for this amazing Franken he build for me. The watch was stuck in customs because after verification they thought it’s a GEN and they asked me to pay a lot on customs!!

@legend helped me a lot to clear it out and I didn’t pay a penny.

Here is the specs.
  1. Blistered NEW GEN Dial and GEN date wheel
  2. 22k gold CNC rotor
  3. Complete movement overhaul
  4. Rebrush case/bezel/bracelet
  5. Bracelet/case beveling + polishing
  6. Polish and align bezel screws
  7. Waterproof and Pressure test
I think APSF did a great job with this rep but in my opinion in real life the difference between the GEN dial and Rep is way more obvious.

Enjoy the pictures comparing it with the Rep.

Out of curiosity, how could you sort the customs issue out?

Where I need to be.
subdial ring of latest batch of green dial quite good already and can't find visual difference from Gen held on window display of a grey dealer
I own the gen green dial 26240 and worked on the rep one and I can assure you that held side by side there is no mistaking which is which from 1m away. On the wrist in the wild, it’ll be close enough though IMHO.

Would you say the ceramic version is closest to gen?

I own the gen ceramic 26240CE too and though the rep is a nice watch on its own, the hues and material quality of the ceramic are significantly different on the gen and rep and the dials also look different especially when placed side by side. If you know what to look for, the two are just very distinct watches. The tactile feel of the gen and rep cases and bracelets are also entirely different such that even when blindfolded, and holding the two, you’ll be able to tell which is which instantly by feel alone. The gen case and bracelet are a lot smoother and the the color of the ceramic a lot deeper vs the rep.

That said, the gen is relatively rare even among gen owners and the rep is a nice enough watch to wear on its own if one isn’t trying to pass it off as gen… for the price, the rep is a very nice novelty watch and certainly does look a lot more expensive than its asking price. It’s a watch I can spot, and have spotted as a rep in the wild before.
