I have three gen dials. One was just under $100, one was a bit over. One is rough, but was only like $30. They're fairly rare, but prices are all over the place, and there are deals to be had for the patient.

Occasionally, they're listed on Ebay as regular "Datejust" dials, and you have to look at the photos to see what it is.

They're shitter quality, but since we're only using the case, not too bad. Probably comparable to a $20-30 Timex from Wallmart.

I used the case and back and bracelet, but the crystal, crown and tube, dial, hands, and movement were all upgraded.

Not even 100% sure they're stainless steel...might be chrome plated pot metal, but cosmetically, not terrible.

I bought a couple PRX reps from AliX to experiment on. Other than the very bottom tier (like these), they're not terribly bad. I have a gen Tissot Seastar (very similar style) and the look and feel are comparable. They're 40mm, so not usable for this project (I didn't read the fine print, lol), but I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear one.

What’s the diameter of the dial on those?
I gave up getting a gen dial.

Maybe i will just slap a Raffles dial in one, upgrade the parts and call it a day

Found them on AliX for under $20, had to reverse image search.

Click on the option before adding to cart. Some are 35mm and some are 40mm. The 35mm fits the gen dial and a gen crystal will fit the case with a little sanding.

I was set to order 2, but after finding them on AliX for $20, I ordered 2 stainless and 2 gold. Never know how long these will be available, and I want to future proof any dials I stumble onto down the road, lol.

I don't think the full gold is going to be believable, but I think the bezel could be swapped to make a 2-tone. One of my dials is blue with gold indices and font, so it would look very nice in that combination.

Give it time. I've been watching for them for about a year now, only seen maybe a half dozen sell for under $300, and I missed a couple that sold for ~$100.

Just arrived
