The cheapest Nikon DSLR now is the D3100. I have a Nikon D80 and a D90 and a D7000 (all three mid-level Nikons) and just received a Nikon D3100 today. So far I am amazed at the quality image the D3100 can produce. As I experiment around with it more I will report on what it can do. So far it seems to me the sensor resolution will be superior to the sensor in the Nikon D80 which is the camera I used to take most of the photos I published in my RWI posts. It seems to me you can take the same quality image now with a camera costing half as much as the ones I have used in the past. So if you are looking for a digital SLR check out that Nikon D3100 before you buy anything.

I too have a D80, great camera! I bought a used D5100 a couple months ago... I LOVE IT! Easy for people to shoot in the "auto" modes and great adaptability to shoot in manual mode! I have both Nikor 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses.

Why not just get rid of one of your 50mm?

Do you really need all three?

The Noctilux is a little slow to focus (long through), very heavy but sublime in low light and wide aperture. Little point taking out during the day, if you have another, I have and do but it is at its best in low light. The Summilux is my neat, integrated hood every day that is a wonderful lens right down to F1.4 where it has a magic, different to the f1. I could sell the f2.8 but it's a very nice lens with different rendering and tiny. Plus very fast to focus as there are only 4 elements of glass inside.

They are all different, the one I would sell first is the f2.8, but it's only worth £600 or so. The macro 90mm Lens is over £2k second hand.

Sell one of the 35mm with it to cover the rest.

I neary sold my MkIV, but it's got a look, particularly at F4, it's known as the 'king of bokeh', which is in part true at f2.8 - f5.6 where it has incredible depth. It's sort of my every day 35 for out doors. The summaron is a 1968 classic and is lovely with a very old fashioned look to the rendering real reportage. As sharp as a tack in the central area and as good as any 35 from Leica in terms of resolution at f5.6. The 35AA is my 'pension lens' I found this rare animal a few years back, I was going to sell and every time I think about it, it's only for the money, I love it. Everytime I look back I am glad I didnt sell.... They keep going up and are very collectable, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leica-Lei...89783547?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item1e7f9979fb now £10k ish !

I know I'm mad but I have sold a number of lenses I don't use all of the 35's and 50's I do use (I did have 5 50's at one time)

I may look at a different camera system for macro, it might be cheaper

Try micro 4/3... Their 60mm macro is pretty awesome from what I read. I shoot 4/3 myself and will be getting that lens after I get the 42.5mm f1.2

Late to the party, but since my employer took our Internet access away it's been hard for me to hang around much.

At any rate, here is what I'm currently struggling to learn how to use:
Canon 1100D (it's an Eos Rebel T3)
18-55mm IS II Lens
75-300mm Canon EF 7 f/4-5.6 III lens
100 mm Canon Macro EF f/2.8 lens
Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT Tripod w/Manfrotto 804RC2 pan-tilt head
2 LumoPro LP180 speedlights
1 Yongnuo 560 III speedlight
wireless transmitters, light stands, umbrellas, reflectors, circular polarizer, ND filters, color filters, light tent, wired remote shutter release, etc.

Have done most of my post in The GIMP, but recently discovered Darktable.

Typical setup looks a little like this, but it varies depending on what I'm actually trying to do.

I hope to actually take a quality picture someday.

Sony A6000 + 35mm f1.8

It's mainly a portable rig and it works quite well!
