Wow, looks amazing! What really is so good about the ARF bracelet? Is it the glidelock?

Couldn't we just get a ZZF with an ARF bracelet and call it perfect?

Excellent comparison, Loved the close up pic, great work on your part...Wear them in good health!! Maybe you wear one in each wrist :D:D

Love it when members do comparisons and recommend such hybrid builds. To take it a step further and assuming no gen parts, my 2 cent recommendation is:
  1. Noob v10 case
  2. ARF bezel+bracelet+hands
  3. ZZF movement (VR3135)+dial+Insert.
Noob v10 has great rehaut engraving and CG shape. I can live with ZZF case (provided it doesn't have the Serial number "X" issue) but ARF case looks a bit boxy to me. Both ARF and Noob don't have good lugs (ZZF is a bit more recessed) but you have have to chose your poison :p

diamant thank you for this. They’re both really good. They look to have different crown heights? What’s the movements? Thanks.

Not sure which one this is, but the ceramic insert looks like it’s sticking out at 2-4:00 ?

Yeah ARF’s rehaut seems to have a larger radius which is more genlike. You can see how the minute markers do not touch the rehaut. Assuming all dials gen and rep are the same and dial layouts are very close, ZZFs rehaut radius is smaller. The difference is that gens have this wide-mouth effect from having a rehaut radius-to-case size (Let’s call it RR-to-CD) brings all attention to the dial. The result is that the dial will look like a perfect circle from any angle. In contrast, reps like ZZF and noob have a different RR-to-CS (rehaut radius is smaller than gen) which makes the dial look oval in most pictures and angles. ARF on the other hand has genlike rehaut radius but since the base of the lugs are fat it’s RR-to-CS is not genlike.

This is also is a great example of a shortfall of ZZF which is its barely existing lower rehaut polished edge. ARF has it as you can see and all gens do.

Anyway.. impossible fantasy watch with no gen parts: I’d take ZZF lugs, dial, capped seconds hand, insert, crystal + ARF rehaut, hour and minute hands (relumed), dw (not the fat one), clasp, bezel + either bracelet

ZZF vs gen looks same to me don't understand what you mean.

This is just not correct, and you are creating a problem that’s not there. My gens both subs and gmts has exactly the same size rehault as my ZZF with gen crystal.

Also the ARF crystal is sticking out like a mountain.

Alright everybody I’m not the authority all I’m saying is gens look widemouth and reps don’t do it as well. Could be the angle of the rehaut (less steep). But look at this noob: The top of the rehaut is way more exposed
62d35d22d28732e0f8f1510970186861.jpg

Than this ARF

Wouldn’t that be the radius of the rehaut?

Now look at the top edge of rehaut on the ZZF

Vs every gen

Case wise reps have some combination of wokkier rehaut angle, smaller rehaut which makes less of a widemouth gen effect

Now you seem to compare everything with ARF and saying if its not like ARF its not correct. I posted a head on shot of ZZF vs gen and they are exactly the same as you can see.

IMHO ARF dial opening (rehaut radius) seems to be gen size but due to the lug thickness at the base diminishes the wide mouth gen effect.

IMHO ZZF dial opening is smaller than gen and so you get diminished widemouth gen effect.

No rep case is 1:1. ZZF is so good looking and close but I’m so bitter that gen is gen.

I am not attacking anybody. Your ZZFs are boss and comparisons are great. But they are not exactly like gen.

This community is great and I do not want conflict. Friendly argument is cool. Sorry if I offended anybody.

————
Anyway here’s an idea of a Franken sidestepping the rep midcase. What do you all think?

I saw a 3135 on sale for $4500 and a 97200 bracelet + clasp for $3000.

If Someone bought a gen for $8500 somehow and sold off the aforementioned parts at the respective prices they would have a gen - movement watchhead for $1000. Buy the vr3135 and ARF bracelet for less than $500. Better Franken for >$1500...

No worries I like those arguments as well as they make you notice new things you did not notice before (and unfortunately with each new thing you discover the watch starts to look worse and worse). And I agree gen is gen but they are getting really close and these things that we here in this forum are picking apart are mind bogging sometimes and that's the magic of this hobby. For a regular Joe gen Sub owner ZZF may look like the real deal but for us ZZF vs gen is like comparing a canal street rep with a gen :)
