Remember, That was in the sun. When you put it in a watch case you get the added benefit of the case surrounding it to deflect some light.
These are in that dark position and all just slight variations of position.

It looks to be pretty black.not as black as gen but looks fine hopefully under a gen xtal it will look black

Only black I'm seeing is from shadow, or in total absense of direct light (no green flare). This is completely different from black in ambient light.

As I have a brandnew gen LV dial I would be happy to make an extensive side by side in different lightning in case somebody wants to send a dial over.

no it should look black in the dark , and green in the light
This is a $49 dial I bought recently online for a project I'm doing. I ordered the ZZF because the coronet is a little better looking (my how picky we can be) but so far the lack of deep black plus green flare pics of the ZZF are making me second guess that choice.

This $49 aftermarket Ebay dial was photographed inside in the daytime in ambient light plus one desk lamp at my workbench. No filters or photo tweaking.
Even a Noob dial shows good blacks in those conditions.

Thank you. Its quite expensive compared to BP / vrf max LV dial that cost just USD 50.

Out of curiosity, I would love to see the CF dial next to a gen in different lighting conditions - hopefully someone will be able to do that comparison!
At this point, I am leaning towards the CF dial only because I really like the more gen-like indices... to me the squared-off indices are always a dead giveaway that the watch is a rep... and as far as the dial color goes, NO dial - no matter how good it looks - is going to equal the gen...

Agree with this, the gen like indices and print are more important to me than the shade of black the dial goes. The flat square indices of some dials look horrid
