stufuse Looks like you are having issues recently with multiposting on Tapatalk.

Yep, it’s very annoying. Says the post was unable to list, you go back and check and it’s not there, but it did post.

I think my build will be arf base + vr hands and dial + gen dw. How is the ARF crystal?

Can't really tell by the initial pics but, does the 3186 come with the new or old click spring? (the old one is the one which often breaks)

Yeah, recently purchased this for my build to replace the incorrect engraving on VR3185 movement by a gen correct bridge

The VRF VR3185 has a jumping hour click spring clone of the gen 3185 part (more robust)
The ARF SH3186 has a clone JHCS of the gen 3186 part (breaks more easily)

However, forum watchmakers are saying both of them should be replaced by a gen part to increase stability and improve performance. I would guess that the clone ARF SH3186 JHCS is not replaceable by a gen 3185 JHCS.

Thanks for the info but I was referring to the *new* click spring which Rolex replaced (after realizing the 3186 often breaks) around 2014. Does the clone has that *new* click spring or the old one before 2014?

By the way, my gen GMT is first edition: M serial from 2008. I use the GMT function regularly for business trips. Can’t complain about any instability so far - luckily :)

Unfortunately it's the old one, 3186-657-1 is the new one

Mate I have a question for you: 3185 and 3186 differs in thickness. Did you compare the thickness of the two movements also compared to the gen one?

Hi man, in my thread I compared case thicknesses of VRF versus Gen but not movements by itself.

Last qn: Will the gen bezel fit on both ARF and VRF??? :)

There are several posts with gen bezels on a VRF. I don't know of any gen bezels actually on an ARF yet, but ARFs in general have been compatible with gen bezels.
