Newbie Question - PAM299 O Noob factory best Edition

Sorry, for the newbie questions, until I get myself up to speed. I'm going through the massively long PAM guide at the moment.

I'm after some advise, I've been looking a PAM104 N Noob factory - http://www.torobravos2014.com/index...&keyword=PAM+104&category_id=0&product_id=357

Now I've noticed that Toro have a sale for the PAM299 O Noob factory best Edition - http://www.torobravos2014.com/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=pam+299&product_id=677

Is there any difference in the quality, I'm would also be after a leather strap to go with it, and recommendations on a brown leather strap?

At that price, I'd go with the 299 for sure. The rep stainless bracelets are nice and the 299 looks great on leather as well. Use the extra cash to get your first strap or two...

getting 299 and aftermarket strap from our TD will be a great choice.
you can switch between them depending on your mood.

Prefect thanks for your help. Is it worth paying the extra for the faster shipping?

I just bought one from Toro and it is maybe the most accurate rep around, especially at that price. I smoothed out the edges on the bracelet to get it a bit more gen-like, but it's great out of the box. No, I don't think the faster shipping is worth it.

I'm glad I refreshed this thread! Credit Card was in my hand. I won't bother with faster shipping.

For the price no doubts about buying a PAM 299
Even you will get a bracelet and could get a strap and have a watch very similar to a PAM 104

Quality the same

Go to PAM 299 + leather strap

Cheers, I've ordered the watch. I'm going to look for a leather strap tomorrow. What size strap am I looking for?

Thanks for the help. Very much appreciated.

Congrats, good choice

Regarding strap dimensions consult:

Anyway talk about that with your strapmaker

Good luck

Thanks again.

I've managed to find a UK strap maker, he isn't a TD on here, although there is a thread about his straps (Toshi Straps). This is the one I'm thinking on going for - http://toshi-straps.co.uk/straps/fudge/

I take it, it's easy to remove the bracelet, and replace it with the leather one? I can't seem to find how to do it going from a bracelet to a strap. I can find plenty of video's doing it the other way around, or replacing like for like strap.

It's super easy to swap the strap and it doesn't matter the type (material) the strap is made from, the procedure is the same. On the 299, you simply depress a small button and the bar that secures the strap will fall out (sometimes you need to give it a little nudge). Once you get the watch in hand it will make perfect sense.

Toshi makes a nice product... I would also suggest looking at our mtm section as a lot of deals on great straps can be had. Fyi, straps are addictive!

Right ok, thanks. I've seen video's on how that's done. Seems straight forward. I haven't seen anyone do one with a bracelet, which is why I asked. I'm going through the long strap thread at the moment. I can see myself getting a bit a strap addiction.

Don't forget a buckle. I haven't looked at the 299 but would expect that the strap is 24mm tapering down to 20mm at the buckle but check if this is right. You can get custom straps in any size so see if you like a taper which makes the watch look more elegant or a straight stray such as 24/24 which will give the watch a more casual or rugged look.

Thanks for the tip. Damn there's so many really nice straps out there to choose from. Some of them are really expensive as well.

By the way, when I removed the bracelet to work on it, I had to push the button but then push real hard to get the metal bar to slide out.... It did not come out very easily, so don't worry if you have to apply some pressure.

Don't fret about the price. They may be an expensive investment at first but it does make the watch and if you have more than one 24mm watch (doesn't need to be a PAM) then it provides variety.
