It would be nice if factories would pay more attention to keeping the center dial section perfectly level and stationary. ZF is particularly bad about this, it's uncommon to see one where this is not an issue.
The problem arises from the fact that the center dial section is held in place by tiny strips of double-sided tape (dial dots). The center dial hole is too small for this arrangement because in the absence of precise placement or due to minor shifting, the dial section begins to contact the hour hand hole collar. The hour hand collar then drags the dial section clockwise to the limit of give in the dial dots. This is why you never see a center dial section unlevel anti-clockwise.
This could be fixed by using a couple little pins in the back of the dial section like the gen has, or more simply by just making the center hole a tad bigger.
For a permanent fix to an existing issue, a few tiny epoxy blobs on the plate beneath the dial will correct it. Once seen, this flaw can completely ruin the experience of owning one of these reps. Making them heavier only increases the weight of the burden.
