I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to put out some details that I've noticed. I have a ZF 67650 with a gen black dial. Went into a grey market shop today to compare it against a gen 67651 white dial with diamond bezel.
Let me start by saying the ZF is pretty solid. But there are a couple of things that might bother you.
- The steel is definitely duller and rougher-looking than gen. Gen is extremely smooth, uniform, and bright. I'm sure modders can get it close to gen, but don't expect gen-level finishings out of the gate.
- The bigger issue I've noticed is that the ZF's bracelet links are not beveled anything like gen. In pictures, it seems that JJF's are in fact pretty close to gen. While the outer edges are fine, it seems like ZF's connector links are less rounded, and so less of the polished part of link connector is exposed like it is in gen. This is actually quite noticeable on wrist. Take a look at these photos comparing the two, via Trusty's website.
You can see that the beveling on the JJF's small connector links is a bit more exposed than the beveling on the ZF.
Now, it also looks like the JJF piece's brushed finishing is quite a bit rougher than ZF's. Both might benefit from a modder like Legend's hands.
Just wanted to put this out there! As Legend says, it's more about the rep you love than what's closest to gen, and your attitude is more important than anything. Enjoy!
edit: I believe the correct manufacturing term for a curved surface meeting a flat surface is "fillet." "Bevels" refer to two flat surfaces meeting at less than a 90-degree angle. There's your engineering lesson for the day!
2nd edit: I also wanted to drop in a photo of the gen bracelet so y'all can compare the two reps in question here to it.
