Thanks Legend. I got mine in March if this year. I suppose plasticy was the wrong word; I meant not as ‘wet’ as earlier examples but certainly significantly less sunburst than my ZF 15400 in white except under direct sunlight. But what you said also makes perfect sense. Wondering if this is the same dial you speak of. Appreciate the insight.

This dial could very well be the one before the last update. If you can show a frontal pic of it in indoor lighting, it will be easier to tell.
Regardless, the watch dial does look good from that pic. The gen blue dial is dynamic in real life and there is no one absolute tone color.. it all depends on the lighting and angle you look at it. So unless you have a guy standing next to you side by side wearing the gen, I think that the slight variance in the gen dial color would make it difficult to call out based on the color alone. The rep dial isn't atrocious, it is perhaps not as refined but not something I would fuss over.

Below is a picture of a 15500 I modded (Belongs to a member here). It is the latest version, with the dial finish refined just slightly. I think it does a very passable job on the wrist in real life, and in pics. Yes gen will be gen and rep will be rep, but this owner was after a specific look for his watch (not necessarily wanting it to look "gen like" but to look "refined and luxurious") and this was the premise of the modding.

Thanks Legend. I think ZF has made exemplary reps for both the 15400 and the 15500 that feel premium on the wrists but I’m also honestly more interested with the dial sunburst and colors than how “gen it looks”. Barely anybody notices my watches in real life except for me and I love staring down at these ZFs haha. If there is a more dynamic sunburst blue that plays better with light I will legit consider replacing mine.

OK you need to understand, that bi-directional winding rotors oscillate (swing both ways, like SHB :legend:) to charge the watch up, whereas uni-directional winding watches spin in a single direction to achieve the same function. It is not uncommon for single directional winding movements (rotor assembly) to be noisy as a chopper landing and this is the same for the gen. If you hear a gen 5711 in action, you will be left wondering why a $100k watch sounds like a $10 cheap toy. lol

The loud rotor on a 5711 is considered an "exquisite feature", especially after you paid $150,000+ for it...

Why doesn't make ZF such a dial for 15202 ? Isn't it quite the same for both gen 15202 and 15400 ?

Gens can differ from an year to an other, even for the same reference e.g. 15202.
Hopefully they will acknowledge that their updated dial is an improvement upon the previous iterations, and will roll out the update to their 15202 and 15400 models as well.
Could be worth asking a TD if they have any news from the factory...

I happen to be able to read and write Chinese but for the sake of the community in general please do not respond in Chinese again. Alternatively you can include an English translation for the majority of the guys here who doesn’t read Chinese. Thanks.
