Seems like its raining 15500s in the group lately. Congrats to all. Has anyone considered putting the Prof 2AR crystal on their new acquisition? How big of a difference do you guys think it'd make on this watch ?

From what I've read the gen does not have a double AR crystal so it's probably best not to get it.

I have a gen Seamaster 300 diver which has it and although it looks very good, in some lighting I can see some bad scratches.

+1. Reps already have a lot of flaws, don't introduce one more purposely. While 2xAR makes the dial "pop", the outside AR coating will scratch quickly.

As soon as mine arrives (no idea when with current shipping issues :(), I plan to send it to Prof for 1xAR glass.

It's a good choice! I went for blue... but I had both, I was loaned one in Black! And I have to say it was beautiful. If I didn't have so many black Rolex's I'd have gone for the Black AP 100%. I just wanted a bit of difference so went blue!

Any must mods for this ZF? from what I have read it's mostly the bracelet being too sharp.

Where I need to be.

Even for my gen 15500 I had to soften the bracelet edges myself. I think a rotor bearing assembly service (silence rotor) and the bracelet edge softening/polish.

Nothing much else needs/can be done.

Shows how well ZF has repped this model :D:D They have managed to keep the bracelet “gen like”.

Looking to buy the ZF 15500; would be my first rep buy. Just want to know what's the reasonable accuracy expectation? Like +/- how many seconds per day to be acceptable QC?

Thank you

I'm not expert and have mostly learnt from the legends (pun intended) of forums like these but I think a +/- 5-8 seconds should be fine. As mentioned above you should just make sure the aligning of the screws, the DW, logo placement (its tilted sometimes) and the over all fit and finish. However these can surely be modded after the purchase but if you want a perfect rep right out of the box (which is seldom the case) in my opinion you can keep these points to check. Cheers

+30 / -30 would be perfectly acceptable considering the movements...

+ or - 5-8 would be very good, it's not entirely realistic to expect that though, with service and regulation it's entire possible.

But normal variations even for Seiko cheaper movements is +- 35 secs. And they're an accomplished movement producer with perfect conditions, not some underground back room putting bits of fake watches together...

Either way you can improve the movements and typically a service will do that, but don't expect swiss levels of accuracy. Sometimes you get lucky... but that's all it is.
