ZF 15400 VS APS 15400

If it can help,
I handled one week ago a gen RO 26331 during a dinner.
I was shocked because i expected a different feeling from the rep that i owned(Jf, zf ) but it was really similar to the jf in terms of solidity of the bracelet and finishes.
Than I received the aps and i can say that it is really close talking about the feeling.
The same sensation that i had when i received the vsf 116610ln and i handled it keeping on the other hand my hulk gen.
What i think is that many times here i see people talking without knowing.
Pictures are not the real life and gen watches are mede of the same steel of the reps( for the most).
Gens don't come from another galaxy...
Off course, a gen watch may has some better finished details but here we are really close.

I've been researching for the past couple of days too, pouring through threads and videos online. Seems like APS case shape, thickness and bezel curve angle (this one needs confirmation) is slightly more accurate, but ZF has better polishing / brushing / finishing, better hands.

RO is all about the finishing though so Im leaning on ZF as it would give a better overall feel despite being less accurate. Rep is rep after all.

If anyone has more observations I'd appreciate it as well.

Here is my promised ZF vs APS 15400 comparison. This is my first review and posting pictures so forgive me if my information is scattered.

Its been a while since this thread was created, but I just realized that the bezel on your ZF is rotated the wrong way (horizontal brushing instead of vertical)!

I have a gen white dial incoming, so ZF white, but since the grey dial has a white datewheel Im tempted to order the grey instead and enjoy it for a while before doing the dial swap... if I order the white ill be able to do a rep/gen comparison though!

Did Zf and Aps update their movements? The first batch has really poor finishing on the movement. Did that get improved by now?

I ordered the White ZF from Trusty and after waiting 1 month for QC pics I was told the watch is not available..... Now changed my order to APS, I hope that one is available in white.

That seems like an easy solve. Just take the bezel off and rotate it 90 degrees and put it back on.

No, apsf is gen thickness, zf is +0.5

If you want the best case is apsf, zf has kept everything.from.the.miyota movement, even the dial is glued without feet

Zf is thicker,many comparisons
try measure a apsf with the same caliper if you get the chance it will show even less

I think that even if it measures marginally thicker, it is ok.
These are reps worn for fun. I see a lot of guys concerned about 1:1 thickness but the fact is that there are so many other tells, that if the watch is examined off the wrist, thickness will not be the tell, but there are at least 6-8 tells for the experienced observer.
Having said that, experienced observers are also relatively very rare in real life.. most don't give more than casual glances to our watch and nobody pays more attention to it than us.
I think that your ZF watch and my gen will look the same on the wrist to the average person on the street. :legend:

Use the APSF base but try to get ZF hands if you’re not using gen hands.
