THIS IS FOR CLEANING THE BRACELET ONLY - DO NOT SOAK THE HEAD IN OIL
Those of you who have been around the forum for a while have, no doubt, read the postings regarding soaking metal watch bracelets to loosen them up. Well here is pictoral evidence of why you want "wash" every new watch before you wear it.
Step 1: A zip lock bag and some WD-40.
Look how clear the oil is
Step 2: Removed the head and dropped my BRAND NEW UNWORN Planet Ocean bracelet into the oil
Step 3: 15 Minutes later
Step 4: Results - look at the cr@p floating in the ziplock - sure don't want that rubbing against my wrist all day!
So not only does an oil bath make the bracelet more supple and flexible it gets the nasty leftover factory junk out as well.
FYI: It wasn't just one nasty Planet Ocean. I have ordered from Ruby, King, Andrew, WBK and Josh and every watch has this much gunk come out with the oil bath.
