that's right Legend.
I don't have the technical knowledge you and some other guys here have but having the watch around the wrist every two other days helps me to get more familiar with the latter and of course with its tiny details..... ;-)
if i am not wrong you're a big AP fan, and you would probably agree that these watches (RO&ROOs) are really different in photo and IRL, which gives you even more advantage when you can hold it in your hand.
Having the gen in hand beats having technical knowledge IMHO. You know the tactile feel and subtleties of the watch which no picture or specification can express. You’re at liberty to observe various features of the watch under different lighting, angles and conditions. That’s why I’m against members posting pics of gens or videos to show how a gen is like or isn’t as their sole basis of making statements. The statements can be misleading and inaccurate. That’s also why I value input of gen owners when it comes to gen VS rep knowledge.
I have a modest collection of gen APs so I know a little on what APs should be like. The rep 15202 is a popular model among members here and your input and help will be invaluable to everyone here who wants to know how the gen is like (or isn’t)
I always remember how a member here tried to correct me in the past about the material of the rotor of the gen ROO by showing me a pic off the net, when I have the gen in hand to look at. He would ignore the fact and continue to post google pics and videos to prove his expertise. Lol. Said member would go on to create threads to educate the rest about gen VS rep APs based on google pics and YouTube videos and looking at gens through shop windows. I think our section moderator and AP guru
QueTip remembers this guy.
Thank you for chiming in and we do value your opinion and knowledge as a gen owner. It’s not something having theoretical or technical knowledge can replace. Gen AP owners can also learn more about their watches from members here, who are in general knowledgeable, resourceful and helpful. We are in a unique community where the lines between gen and rep watches become in distinct and this benefits both gen and rep collectors in terms of knowledge and appreciation of details and brand/model history.
