"I've had a watch obsession for most of my life (I'm still young, 23, so that doesn't mean a long time). I lived in the world of $300-$500 for several years until coming across Panerai. The first one I purchased was a fake 196. I loved the look of it, and over the next year or so I bought my first real Panerai (164), and sold and bought a few more (111, 88, real 196 from another Paneristi, and a 176 from another Paneristi). Some from a local AD and others from this forum. I quickly developed a "fetish" for Panerai that I could not afford. I stayed a float by buying and than selling to continue to satisfy the urge without spending $15k-$20k. After observing this community I became even more in love with the watch and the brotherhood of this forum's participants.

I recently displayed a lapse in integrity and character by letting that urge for the next new Panerai get the best of me. I simply could not afford to continue at the same pace with the real thing, so I stooped to the embarrassing level of acquiring a couple of fakes (217 and 243) and trying to pass them off to others (and the saddest part, to myself) as authentic. Once I was called out (goes to show you can't fool a Paneristi) I spiraled into an even more disgusting damage control of lies. I have nothing else to say other than I'm am sorry and deservingly embarrassed.

I want to relay my affection for this forum/community and my sincerest apologies for disgracing the Paneristi name (for I used to call myself one). For anyone who I've done business with, I want to tell you that I've never and would never attempt to trade or sell any non-authentic watches or accessories. I know that statement may not carry as much weight now, but I feel the need to say it anyway. That is the truth.

I ask nothing more than for you all to let me go and learn in peace. I will no longer participate in this forum or any of it's events, give aways or local GTG's. My Father always told me I had to learn my lessons the hard way(and many times more than once). He was undoubtedly correct.

Sincerest Apologies,

Renfro"

What are you talking about? Are you saying those are your photos on the gen forum we are discussing?

If so you made a poor choice but why not call it a lesson learned and move on, whay would you bail on this forum just because you had a momentary lapse of reason?

Lighten up on yourself, live and learn.

Bigshooter - I believe he was just relaying the post from over at Paneristi, don't think he has anything to do with it...

You guys missed the most important post of his. Blamming a fake seller after he stated the AD had somthing to do with the watches. Talk about F-ing yourself!

Re: Mea Culpa

Then using his real (same) name in Yahoo! Auctions to sell fake watches. Some people are just so dumb, I don't get it. What is the purpose of trying to fool all of these guys?

Check the link, he was not SELLING, he bought. Big difference! On behalf of RENFO (or whatever name he uses here), it's not that I disagree with you guys. Yes, (and he knows it) he did some stupid things... but again as he stated, he's only 23... Lotta living still to go and learn some lessons.

C'mon, give the guy a break.

I'm sorry, my fault, so used to eBay's set up and didn't look close enough. Anyway, either way what he did was just plain wrong. I know we all do stupid things.. hell I'M 23!!.. but still, there are some things that really reflect your character and moral as a person and intentionally deceiving people is one of them.

I will give him a break, I'm not going to hold it against him, and I do think it takes a lot to apoligize to all those people, so I hope he REALLY learned his lesson and makes a personal change...

No- GOOD FOR HIM!!

I own three gens and a friggin box full of reps- I always wear a good rep when I'm gonna be around my bigshot Porsche driving neighbors- just to see if I get busted. It's more fun that way.

I wore my Davidsen Fiddy on my wrist when I picked up a gen from a guy I purchased it from on Paneristi.com. He didn't know. (He drooled over it! I tok it off and handed it to him- he glanced briefly at the movement and did not notice it was a rep)

Trying to fool people is the whole sport - is it not??

But in person is one thing- when someone can endlessly pore over photographs on the net- you'll usually get busted. Unless you wear a Rolex. The everyone knows it's fake. (Even if it's real)
