Most of the dealers on here sell waterproof replicas, but what i wanna know is how deep are these reps able to go or withstand? Been wondering this myself for some time now.

Provided I have had it tested first, yep, no worries. Anyone who takes the "water proof to XXX" claims of some dealers seriously without haveing it tested however deserves what they get. A sodden watch more than likely.

I would never take any of my reps in the pool , lake or ocean.
The consistency is simply not there in the craftsmanship of these replicas. I recently fixed someones watch for them and pulled two different length and type of crown stems (out of the exact same watches) I've watched each twist of a crown draw shavings of metal until it's own threading was accepted, I've seen many misplaced (out of it's track) case back gaskets or pinched gaskets from factories using the wrong size gaskets. I've seen many dry rotted gaskets,
I've seen misplaced aligned crystal gaskets, I've found watches with no crown gaskets, I've seen stripped case back threading, what does chlorine or salt water or water in general do to crappy glue used on the back of bezel inserts..

oh.. you cant run up to walmart to swap your watch for not living up to being water proof.

too many possible problems to risk it imo..

I am still trying to figure out why I would need to know the time while swimming. Except for military, I have never had a real need for a watch in the water since the advent of the dive computer. Even as a commercial diver there is no real need for a watch while diving.

Why wear a watch diveing? For the same reason I carry paper charts and a magnetic compass to back up my plotter and fluxgate compass. i like redunency. Admitadly for you it prob ain't such a big issue. Your gear is chked by techies ad nauseum and there's a guy on the end of the comms link to say " hey, stupid, time to come in". If your 'puter fails you just go back into your little cave without having to worry about decompresing without a timer, a luxury most don't have.

I scuba dive, and if my computer fails it is time to come up. If you are decompression diving on scuba, you need to find a safer hobby.

Although I agree for the most part with D4M, I don't see a problem with taking that risk with a watch that you could afford to lose. I don't swim with any of my "quality" reps, but I do have a Silix 45mm PO and an Asian SFSO that I have no problems swimming in. Everything has been tightened up on them and I have had no problems with leakage at all.

As to why someone would need to know the time whilst swimming? Obviously you don't. But I do need to know what time it is when I lounge by the pool or at the beach, and I think that it would spoil the illusion of what is supposed to be an expensive diving watch if I were to take it off to wade in to a few feet of water.

Anyway, my advice is to buy a "Lite" version of one of the better made watches, grease and tighten it, and use that as your water watch.

Maybe it's just me, but I have a gen GMT II Ceramic that will never see any H2O. Rep or otherwise, why take even the slightest chance of ruining your watch? Wear a decent beater (Casio, etc.) for such excursions.

I'll use my Seiko before my gen Rolex's, gen Oris, gen Piccard, gen Wakmanns, or any of my other gens - all of which are supposed to be water-tight to at least 100m.

I swim with my PO, SMP, SO and Pantar (sold it a while back). I just don't like the idea of leaving it alone to be stolen. The are all intended for the water and it's not like I am going to swim down to 25 feet of water. :D Get some silicone watch grease and enjoy your watch. :D
