How many times are you winding it? From a dead stop, it will take about 50 winds.

winding fiddy

yes, it stops when Im wearing it. I wind it a few times. I just don't want to over wind it and break something in the movement, my first mechanical I 've only had automatics

Well as the othr person said, the PAM does require a few more winds to get started. The reason I asked my question was that when you first get a rep, it's usually stone cold dead. They need a good start up winding which is usually accomplished by getting it started and wearing it all day. Since yours is stopping while on the wrist, I would have to next ask you what you do for a living. If you are sitting at a computer and not actively moving around. That will not be sufficient enough to keep it goiing. However, if you have been active and it is doing it, there may be a problem with the rotor.

It's a 127, which is a manual wind. There is no rotor.

Like jb said, it takes about 50 winds or so. Don't worry, you'll know when it's fully wound. You'd honestly have to be trying in order to break/overwind one of those 6497s.....

I don't think I've had a handwound watch for 20 years. The thought seems so weird now. How long is the reserve on those once they're wound?

@angelron -- It'll stop when it's fully wound. If you don't make a conscious effort to try to keep winding it, you'll never break it. You'll know it when you feel it, I promise you. Is it an Asian or a Swiss movement?

@fake -- Power reserve should be ~46 hrs or better. Some of Davidsen's Asian movements have been measured at 60+hrs, IIRC.

What about accuracy? Does it suffer as it winds down? I know Clive is a freak about them. Says they're great

Not anymore than any other mechanical watch, as far as I know. I believe they use the same COSC standards as auto mechanical movements...

Sweet. Now all I have to do is find one that's not 5000MM and is on a metal band.

It doesn't really matter either way, I was just curious. At any rate, give it a wind. Start being cautious at around 50, but like I said -- you'll know it when it's fully wound.

The same thing happened to my davidsen 127. I wound it for the first time and put it on. It ran for just under 5 hours and stopped. I pulled out the crown, re-set the time, pushed in the crown and started winding. Nothing! It would'nt run. I set it down and walked away. A couple of hours later I repeated the same thing, and got the same results. Then I pulled out the crown, set the time, pushed in the crown and wound it backwards about 4 to 6 times and it started running just fine  Its been running now for about 20 hours. I will just keep an eye on it and see how it does for the next couple of days.

Since those are half turns with winding a Pam, I count to 120 on my Fiddy and all my other 6497 Pams and I still have room to go. That will give me a day + of run time. Then wind it accordingly every morning.
