After collecting watches for a year now and spending a $100 here, $200 there, my wife finally says I can spend $500 on my next watch! I know it doesn't sound like much, but for me it's a good little piece of money. So with all the knowledge on this board, I figured you guys (and girls) could help me pick out a watch that will last. I'm currently wearing a Seiko 007 and that's about as large as I wanna go size wise. I really like the GMT Master II as far as looks go, but would like to hear any suggestions you all may have. I just saw the Ocean7 G-1 GMT that I like but have never heard of the company before. I'm also not against getting another rep, but for $500 I just want to know that it's gonna perform and not be dead after a year. Thanks so much you guys.

I would say a Debaufre Nav-B Limited edition for a nice $500ish gen... http://store.debaufre.com/Nav-B-Limited ... 3.08le.htm

and i know someone on the boards about to sell his for $500.. it's a nice watch with a lot of presence..

the hamilton is a great value too... you can get some hamilton's with the 2893-1 movement for around $500.... that's a great value at that price...

These ideas sound great and man does that omega look good. Very tempting, but I was wondering if you all had heard of bernhardt watches. They have a gmt model I've been looking at.

Hmm gen Seamaster, very tempting. Wish I wasn't so broke.

I agree with the Hamilton Kakhi Chrono.
Best bang for the buck, basically your paying for the movt and getting the rest of the watch for free.

But
Personally I would try to find a used Marcello C Tridente, the older 500 meter version could be found for $500 if you take your time.

I used to own one, there very nice. I miss mine.

Use this site to do your searching:

http://www.elitedealseeker.com/index.cg ... ry=watches

all ways check a few references so you don't get ripped off.
hope it helps

update just did a search, this is what I would buy, I would offer him the $500 imho

I've got an Ocean7 G-1 GMT. Mitch kind of debuted these watches on WatchUSeek.com. They are made by the same company that makes the Steinhart/Debaufre Ocean 1 GMT. Same case, same bracelet, same bezel, just different dials and hands.

If you're after a GMT II look, the Steinhart/Debaufre is the way to go. It uses the Swiss ETA 2893 and is a good size at 42mm.

I got mine lightly used for much less than the $500 mark you've got to work with.

Bank the $500. and save up to get a gen Panerai base dial. You will need an extra $3100. or so.

Ooohhh!!! How about this? Take the $500. go to the casino and bet it on one hand of blackjack. You can double your money (3/2 if you get blackjack) then keep playing till you have enough to buy a gen Panerai.

check our BK on this forum or on rep geek for his highly reputable BK GMTII. Especially his transformer (interchangable bezels) like getting 2 rep watches for cost of one ... start of the day with the pepsi bezel and end the day with the coke bezel all for $400; regular bezel pepsi or coke (non-transformer is $300)

lol dave ... nothing wrong with the wifey giving you $$$ to fund a rep collection. Mine does it for me but then again I take care of all the other bills.

you could have sold him your HBB bling ... oh well his loss was the other's gain
