I still did not hear a answer to why you buy a Rolex Rep? You want to pass it off as real! So you are paying for a name painted on a piece of junk. At least when you are spending money on a Gen you are getting value for the money. I see threads about people buying fake pens to just sit on their desk and look good that you cannot even write with they are only buying for name with no function at all how fake is that? I cannot see a person interested in buying a Rolex who would buy a fake to see how it feels that is what a AD is for real Rolex owners hate fake Rolexs that is why I find it hard to believe that this Johnnydeepsea is sticking up for the site I have not seen a picture of his Gen if he had one i am sure it would be pictured in his sig if it was real, he probably does not know what a AD is LOL. WINNING!!!

I challenge the OP to buy a good rep and then come back. I'll bet you wont bash us then. You will:

A) Realize these reps are extremely good watches for the money and you really will not find a better value. These watches aren't canal street sh1t anymore.
B) Become addicted.

Agree totally with you...

GenOwner - Why are you here? What a strange place to be and a strange post to make if you don't like the idea of fake watches. Here's why I am here:

1. I am a watch collector.
2. I own genuine Rolex, Omega and high end vintage watches.
3. I have the money to buy a 10k watch if I want to, but choose not to.
4. This forum is full of avid enthusiasts who have far more knowledge to share than any other forum I have been involved with (T3, TRF, TZ etc..) The attention to detail on this site is 2nd to none.
5. High end replica's are so good I see no value in owning a genuine example when I can have the style, design and reliability for a 10th of the price.
6. I have had huge help in building highly accurate vintage replicas that in the real world are incredibly hard to source.

I could go on but I don't think it's worth it, why are you here again?

OK. I had enough. OP was talking in circles and probably felt bad for soiling himself by being here with all of us fake people. He can win somewhere else.

actually if the brand doesn't have a rep ... they probably haven't made it big yet....

LMFAO. I'm yet to see a gen manufacturer drop their prices because of replicas. It tends to go the opposite way really

I won't waste my time by posting pics. I really think that you are only here to brag about what you have. Honestly I feel bad for you spending all that money for a Bell & Ross when you can buy a perfect replica for $600 and after it is no longer cool you could throw it in a draw. I want to see your Gen DSSD with papers when you get it and we will congratulae you on it. Besides that I don't think you have anything useful to say.

Oh you kicked him off good he was getting on my nerves. It is guys like that who make me stay off the Rolex forum. What he wake up and decide to just be a jerk he had to know it would not last long. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. I need a nap

I was thinking about the original poster he said he had a Gen Bell & Ross. If I was interested in a B&R I would buy a $600 super rep they are perfect. I would not spend the thousands on a Gen when they do not make their own movements I think a rep is a great value. I see the value in owning a DSSD but I also appreciate the value others see in a quality rep.

My Rolex was a gift so what! I bought my Bell & Ross and I will buy a DSSD when I am ready. Since you do have a Rolex DSSD why are you here! You are like me we only want the best and we will pay for it and not pretend to be something we are not. Fakes make our Gens worth less and decreases value of the Gens. I still have not heard a good argument from a rep owner for buying them only from you a gen owner sticking up for them because they have nothing to say

This post made me LOL :biglaugh:

'pretending to be something [you] are not'?

That is exactly what a lot of gen owners do (seemingly yourself included) - as if, somehow, strapping several grand of currency to their wrist in the form of some overpriced metal makes you a better person than other people.

Why would that be? I could dip myself in liquid gold and make myself worth a lot more than I am now - would that make me a better person? Or just someone with more money than someone else?

Does money make you a better person? Are poor people somehow scum because they can't afford a Rolex? (what about if you're given one as a gift...?)

You seem to be under the impression that buying a Rolex suddenly endows you with an glowing aura of amazingness and superiority over the mere plebs that exist only to serve you while you wear your Rolex of Awesomeness.

I can assure you this isn't the case.

As I recall, Micheal whathisface in the UK, who one £7m or something similarly large on the Lottery, remained an out and out disgusting chav, despite suddenly being dripping in massive and tacky gold curbchain jewellery...

And you also seem to be disagreeing with yourself, which is perhaps the most amusing part.

First of all you say that the Bell and Ross reps you've seen on here are virtually identical to gen, which can only be a good thing for a rep, but then you say they are not good enough quality and won't stand up to the abuse.

Why not? They are made of the same materials as the gens and have the same movements in some cases, so the only difference is the quality of the final construction. Metal and movements in themselves exhibit no properties above their inherent strength just because they have been touched by the hands of a gen manufacturer. I would agree that the final construction and sealing of the cases could be better on reps, but then that's the trade off - are the gens really worth 10x the reps because they are properly waterproof? Would you think it sane to buy a rep for £225 and then spend £2000 on waterproofing? No.

And if reps are (apparently) such bad quality, why would they be a threat to the value of gens?

You are either arguing that they are crap and therefore present no threat to the value of gens, or you are arguing that they are such good quality that they do present a threat to the value of gens.

Which is it?

Come back with a properly constructed and well reasoned argument and you might be taken seriously. As it is, you appear to have come on the forum(s) simply to boast and be smug about what you have got, deride others for not being able to afford the same, and cast wide and sweeping aspersions as to the social class and financial status of the members of the rep fora in order to make yourself feel superior.

If you took the time to look around, get over your illusions of grandeur and actually see what an amazing resource this place and the other fora are, you will realise there is a lot more to this place than the "wow, nice wristie/pick up!!" threads that seem to make up the majority of gen fora posts...

EDIT: Dammit, you kicked him off :( :D

I have a number of gens including a gen Rolex. (Which I purchased myself BTW) Yet I still buy reps and enjoy them. Why? Because I love watches! Plain and simple. Why spends thousands on something you can pay a few hundred dollars for and enjoy just the same?

The reason most rep owners want to have the "best reps" is not to pass it off as a gen but to just have the satisfaction that they have got a bloody good bargain!! :)

You never know who is behind these screen names. I am sure many members can buy and sell me 10x over and they are all down to earth. The OP said it was a gift he probably got a big head. I think most people that make their money are usually down to earth for the most part.

To make this thread worthwhile let's say you received a bonus enough to pay your bills with $10,000 to spend on a watch or rep watches what do you do? Rules you have to say the Gen you will buy or just say reps.

I have my Grail so I would buy a new Rolex from Basel

Why am I always late to these things?! Dammit!

Oh well, he will more than likely show on a gen forum explaining how badass he was to come here and bash us rep people... until he gets banned from there too.

I buy reps for several reasons.

- I love the look of the gen watch but as a student I prioritize books higher, and want to have money left for other things. When I graduate I will buy the gens.

- it is a perfect way to try the look and feel for a long time before buying the gen. It is a huge waste of money to buy a gen and then find out after a month that you don't really like it.

- you don't have to worry about somebody stealing it, or that you smash it when at work or when drunk..

- you can open it up and tinker with it as much as you want. If something stops working you are not out $5000 or more..

- one reason I recently became aware of: the reps are better built and higher quality that a genuine watch for the same price (mostly)

I think this is a way of trolling though. Based on his username and the intention just to show the dislike for reps - this is a rep community...
Is he banned? Too bad I wanted him to answer this..
