why expensive movements only?

Why are some watches only avalible with swiss ETA's or SW200 movements.

After an Omega seamaster aqua terra. Silver face with silver hour markers. I can only find it with either 2813 movement which i don't really want, or a swiss 2846 which although isnt priced that high at around $230, why dont they make it with an asian 2824/2836. surely that would be cheaper and their for more popular.

Also the ultimate patek phillipe nautilus is only made with SW200 which makes it expensive. why not same case construction and bracelet, dial etc. but again with asian 2824/2836.

Ask your favorite dealer if they can get the watch for you with the movement you want.

Most of them should come with both movements now.

The patek only comes with SW200.

Also the AP royal oak jumbo ultimate from puretime also comes in Swiss movement only.

Already asked the dealers. These are their answers.

Frustrating cause I'm not that concerned about what the movement looks like through the display back as long as the rotors close. Their no more than 28,800 Bph so the second hand isn't any smoother.

Would snap up a nautilus if the ultimate version was a bit cheaper than $400.

+1 on the pricing but... We as a collective demand better quality, and in turn they supply the ultimate with the more expensive movements thus justifying the price increase. So instead i wait for a pre loved one on the sales forum preferably conus and usually it works out better.

Is a SW200 better than a 2824? It's more expensive for sure, but don't know if that makes it any better.

But it still doesn't look anything like a patek Phillipe movement so what's the point?

The Sellita SW200 is more readily available than the ETA 2824, since Swatch has been cutting back on supplying these movements.

The SW200 is no better than a 2824-2, since it is essentially the same movement with one extra jewel. Sellita is a licensed ETA manufacturer, but also has the leeway to manufacture thier own movements, of which the SW200 (thier version of the 2824-2) and the SW700 (thier version of the 7750). Are they better? No. Are they as good? Yes.

I think it's more about what the factory that makes them wants to equip them with. Why offer cheaper movements if you are making an 'ultimate' version? They don't care. You want it, then pay up. There are other models out there from other factories that have cheaper movement options...

You wanna talk about a ripoff; I just picked up a gen nautilus strap to put one of these ultimates on. Now that was outrageous

whats the definition of the "ultimate edition"?

I would say its the closest version to the gen. Not uses the most expensive parts.

Does a SW200 movement make the nautilus any closer to the genuine than the a2824-2.

If it does then explain. I dont know if it does or it doesn't.

What i do know that it is closer to the gen price than the a2824-2 (still quite some way off though:lol. but is that what people want. I dont think so.

Off topic: would a SW700 movement cure the date window problems on A7750. Are these movements cheaper than the A7753's.

I am sure it adds nothing to the comparison to the Gen, however as far as mechanical reliability and longevity it adds considerable value.

Not likely unless Sellita would make an S703 with the 7753 layout.

Then i would like to ask this. If i get a rep with a SW200, can i expect better qc on that movement? I mean the "swizz" movements are mostly made from scrap/used parts etc but i guess the sw200 would be "as new". Meaning.. a sw200 would have gone though proper oiling/cleaning from the maker of the movement. Or im a wrong? I would gladly pay 60$ more for a sw200 if i knew i didnt have to send it of for a service right away..

Last I heard the Selita movements have not yet been repped.
YET.
So if you get a SW200 movement in a rep then the movement should be gen and obviously cleaned, lubed and adjusted.
