Why does TCs bezel insert have such a bad reputation?

A quick (re) introduction...

It's been over FOUR years since I left the rep scene. In those days I was mainly on Repgeek. Seems that the current forum of that name is quite different to what I remember. Anyway... I quit the rep scene and moved to inexpensive gens, mainly because of the overwhelming influence of the cartel dealers and rising prices at the time.

Now to the TC Sub... it was just dumb luck that I found out about these watches. Very impressive. But WHY does the bezel insert get such bad reviews??? I've searched for pictures of the offending item, but can't seem to find any?

I have used the Clark inserts on a few of my "homage" watches... are the TC inserts not as good as the Clark items?

Yes. I saw that insert. The pearl looks fantastic. However I really don't like the idea of a rounded surface on the bezel. I'm sure it would bother me every time I looked at it.

TC's LV insert is better then Clark's by far,,,, and I really haven't heard about TC getting many bad reviews on anything.... even now,,,, most all of us think he's nuts for building these new ones he's offering now because he's ventured away from classic OEM designs and it's doing his own thing,,, but everyone's afraid to say anything because even though they're weird it's still the best parts we've ever seen...lol.

It's amazing a that TC showed up as a noob just over a year ago and within a few weeks of showing up, pretty much has dominated the sourcing of the best parts that's ever been available anywhere, the world over.... not only with seemingly resurrecting WM9 but now onto other incredible parts beyond even the late George's ability to produce gen-like parts.

Not really heard anything bad about TC's gear, the quality of his watches is top notch, my TC sub is still the best constructed out of all the reps I have.

I've seen plenty of praise for his LV insert. It's the LN bezel which seems to be an issue in so many reviews. I was just wondering how bad it really is? Are people just being overly particular? Despite not having lume, is the Clark insert a quick/cheap fix until a better rep part is available?

What bad reviews? His inserts are up there with WM9 inserts. One of the best out there. These days you can get a vintage insert from him and put that pearl on a Clark insert.

Except, I don't blame TC for making fantasy models. Could you imagine making the same watch over and over every day! He is obviously very creative and probably just bored with the same ol thing. I also really like a couple of them!

Sorry to change tack a bit but will the bk LN insert fit the tc bezel?I have one of these and am told they are among the best out there

Yeah im thinking all the parts that BK is using now are TC parts including the bezel assembly. So yeah it should fit!!

My 2 cents...
I have a tc ln and I think the gen insert is the way to go. I like my sport watches to look worn (I mean heck, they are meant to be a diver's watch) so getting one in the Used market is money well spent. New is also good if your watch is mint. Gen LV is at a higher price point so you have to really want one. I have had Clark's and Watch material inserts and I like the watch material pearl. I haven't seen the new tc pearl but it looks amazing in pictures!

Only thing that looks good enough is gen :) For some reason that little pearl just is so evident on the design, and anything but gen will be a thorn in the eye. They can be had quite cheap too if you look around. IMO the best setup for a TC is a Clark bezel with a gen insert. TCs bezel is terrible like the insert imho. A Clark looks and clicks nearly like gen and makes the whole watch feel so much more like a gen. Clark bezel is around 60-70 if you can find it, and the insert 120 if you are lucky. So for small 200 you will have made your TC VERY belivable - esp if you get his new KH dial!
