Simple... Just tell the Mrs. she don't have to buy anything for you to show how much she loves you... just to keep her from getting anything you'd be reluctant to use.

Well My wife feels the same way about reps.....its like buying CZs' instead of Diamonds..........

But hey After buying the gens and trying to fuel my watch addiction I really enjoy the pursuit of the best
reps I can find of the watches I crave. And like a guy on another forum she will never understand that I buy them for myself and my pleasure alone. If impressing someone has to be done then I do have a few gens that will more than do that.... but who cares.

One more point....after many years of being married I have learned the secrete of happiness is that what ever she wants...I just say that.."what ever you want baby" and you know what... it works.....

Oh yea leason I also have learned welll when she gives you something......where it when it pleases her.....happiness is a good thing.... I'm sure like most you have a job....and friends that you probably spend a lot of time with so where the reps then......when wife/gf is happy.......life is good

Here are my 2 cents:

I bought my first Breitling 10 years ago, I sold it 2 years later and bought another one. I lost 50%.Then 2 years later I liked the Rolex GMT Master, bought it, lost another 50% on the Breitling. The seller of the GMT Master told me, that he also could sell me reps. I looked at them and 2 weeks later I sold my GMT II and got 5 nice Rollies, all good Quality and with ETA.

Since this, I bought 7 other reps, have not sold one of my watches. I like to wear every day another watch, I also like to match up the watch with the cloth I waer. Nothing better then to wear the PO pumkin with an orange poloshirt :D
I also like to show some assh.....in my Golfclub that not only millionaires have a Rolex Daytona :D :D :D :D

And last, I think it is always fun when you order one and you track it if ipasses customs :p :p :p

PS: I got my wife now 3, the latest one is a Cartier with Batterie, she loves it ( now she does not have to wear it every day :D :D :D :D ) and I am in the process of buying here some nice Gucci / Cloe bags which the saw in a nice store for $1500.... :D :D :D :D :D

well obviously if she works selling genuines hi end gear, she'd be against it. It be like working in the movie industry and being against pirating film, or game industry and pirating games.

she has an ethical issue with it, and the closest loved one is breakin' it :D
you should be ashamed of yourself

well . I think willster and puggy is right on this one.

I had replationships , wifes and girlfriends in the past.

U have to play the game ( replationship thing ) as it is.
Seems she has decided already. so its sort of like
judo.... u have to work with it, and not play directly
head to head against it......

since u know her motive and intentions, now use it
in ur advantage...

We all should rather ask our wives, girl friends, daughters, aunts, etc.

"Why do you guys have to actually spend $1000s of $$$ on a crappy Prada Bag?"

Our women don't like reps... They want the real thing regardless of age & price...

Why?

Next time wear the watch she got you to dinner. I am not married, but I know you won't win this one. Sorry man.

I just read "The Art of War" and you just lost.

Good luck.

And you probably got a nice girl, too. Just make sure she wins when she needs to win - not when you need to be beat.

The above, Willster and Pugs speak the truth.
I haven't been married for too long yet... 3 years coming up shortly, but I have learned to choose the battle field and to choose the battle that I want to fight. Learning how to say "yes dear" with conviction is one of the greatest relationship skills any man could ever learn. I'm not advising deception or giving control of a relationship over, just stating choose your battles and stand when you believe strongly and give a bit when it serves a purpose.

In the OP case... I'd wear the gen to dinner and other social events in the future. That isn't a battle I'd fight, nor is it a battlefield that offers advantage to the rep side. And a "yes dear" isn't going to solve that issue.

Why do I wear reps?... because I love the designs of many gen watches and enjoy having many options for what to wear on daily basis. Simple economics make the case for me... 1 gen = 10+ or - reps. For the same cost I have ten times the choices. If I had a 7 figure watch budget I'd still get reps... I just don't see the point of dropping 10k+ on a watch that you'd be afraid to get deskdiving scratches on. Is it the namebrands on the reps that make me choose the Pam rep over a gen Diesel, fossil etc...? hell no... its the design... the 100 to 500usd range of gens just doesn't do it for me design wise.

If anyone can prove me wrong and suggest a maker of automatic/manual wristwatches in the 500usd or below range that have half the visual appeal of my reps...I'd love to see it.

My pleasure

can I help you with anything else today? :)

Not exaclty what I meant... but they do make decent watches... all basically "legal reps" of rollie stuff. I'd love to see something in this pricerange using an original design... in my mind Invicta, Steinhardt and many others are rep makers just as much as those that make the watches we buy here... my .02cents anyhow.

because I can....

I can get wired to the tits on cheap blow, abuse a few hookers with a coat hanger, then cry like a baby while pissing myself on the steps of a church....... In fact, I CAN do a lot of things, but I choose not to.

Man, I'm glad that I decided to choose rehab over prison.

Because sweetie, you know how clumsy I can be and I'm afraid I'll scratch the gen and its just too precious to me. Thats why I spent another 1k on reps this month.

You got a hard fight to win with someone who is in the biz selling overpriced merchandise. I just buy my wife the rep purse or jewelry she's been looking at and all is well... Just bought wife a new rollie pres with diamonds a week ago so I could get the green light to buy a few more reps (she's already given me the ok to buy a gen when we are in the bahamas next month). This thread is perfect, I'll need an answer when the mail arrives soon.
