Panerai ...in the earlier years - had some pretty inconsistent production runs.
nowadays of course its a different story.
but 25 years ago? very very few people can tell a 202A is fake....i am asking...who has EVER inspected a gen close up ?

i have a friend, pretty rich, beautiful wife, looks exact like Claudia Schiffer. he drives a Porsche GT 2 - and has about 25 top modded watches...
and 5 - 6 gens.

when he goes out eating in Woodside or Blackhawk....where you are poor just being a PENTA - MILLIONAIRE.....everybody on the bar drools over his watches...he wears a different one all the time.

nobody ever would come to the idea he wears a rep.

i hope nobody here ever attempts to pass off their replica as a genuine, especially on any of the gen forums, and hopefully never attracts negative attention to RWI or any of the rep forums. There was an incident recenetly where a well known rep forum member tried to pass off a rep pam as a gen on a panerai gen forum and almost fooled them. That member is now banned from all the rep forums.

trying to pass off a rep as a gen, or trying to sell a rep as a gen will not be tolerated and isnt something we really should even be discussing on this forum :)

I Learned my lesson the hard way, I went to Paneristi and tried to pass this one as gen:

I have no clue as to why they realized it was a rep. :(

Was it not Optimus Prime who was recently torn a new ass-hole for posting reps on Paneristi? I thought he was banned, and If I am mistaken, my apology to OP. however there is nothing clever or productive about trying to fool the Paneristi. It is an alarmingly stupid thing to do and brings trouble which we do not want or need.

i cant remember who the last person was but it was a big disaster and it brought a lot of unwanted attention to our forums from the gen guys.

@hambone - I think you are thinking of a different issue in the sales section a while back.

PAMS, be it superreps or even ultimates, are reps afterall. Own it for personal indulgence and enjoyment, never try to pass it off as a gen coz it'll never be no matter how much you mod it to become one. Do people actually ask if the watch you're wearing is a gen or rep? If a rep can be spotted that easily, then BIN it! No need to lie. From my experience, it's how you carry yourself in public and social functions that bystanders observe to judge if you're wearing a gen or rep. Same goes for silicone implants. LOL.
