Who's PAM has fooled Paneristi?

Who's modded PAMs have fooled either a Paneristi within inches from the watch, or has fooled the Panerisiti site? What kind of mod combination?

I have a 028 that has been modded by Sssurfer. I had the date wheel from Finepics, and Sssurfer was kind enough to custom make me a cyclops. Chieftang's is slightly too strong, while the cyclops from the factory is weak. Sssurfer works out perfectly for the a-series watch.
The watch and date wheel make a huge difference in the overall appearance of the watch. And I was put to the test when I was in Las Vegas a few weeks back. I was in the poker room in Caesar's and the person right next to me had a 190. He said "nice watch".
I replied, "thanks.
He asked if I could see it. I took it off my wrist and handed it to him. He examined the dial and the caseback, and then said "I love the a-series 028. The B series has that terrible power reserve, and I can't stand the leaf."
He obviously knew what he was talking about.
I said, "thanks".
And he finished the watch discussion by saying, "you should post pics on paneristi some time. that's a piece a lot of members would like to see".
I felt pretty good knowing I fooled a panerisiti. However, the 028 is a very rare watch and I doubt he has had the opportunity to examine the watch prior to mine. Other faults I find with the watch will be the PVD. Most 028s PVD looks tarnished at this point. I have tried to achieve this look with constantl polishing with the cape bod. I have taken the gloss off, but cannot get that flat finish.
Still I am very very happy with this watch. Please share your stories.

Get a DSN PVD case and polish that with the cape cod cloth to get the worn look. DSN's PVD is the best/closest to gen.

I'd like to see some pics too. I don't think most people, even if they're really into watches, realize the lengths some of us are willing to go to get a near perfect rep.

i highly doubt that this dude could tell 100% a highly modded rep from gen...all these limited edition Pams, also changing crowns - shapes- finishes.
i was reading many stories about small numbers of prototypes which were sold from Panerai.
especially if you have a closed caseback....i wanna see the guy that tells you 100% in your face its fake.....propably HAMMER or some other freaks
on Risti....but 90% of them....no way.

camera battery is low, but i will post pictures tomorrow. i was thinking of going with the dsn case, however i want to keep my non-ar crystal and have heard it would not fit.
btw, i was nervous when i handed the watch over, but on the same hand i knew how limited my watch was and felt that chances of him ever holding a gen was second to none.

What a story! Yes please do post this supreme 028. I second DSN's PVD cases are very close to gen.

So PVD-DLC shiny brushed finish on a watch from 1999 didn't raise suspicion with this 'fellow' 'Risti ?

Not even a low cross bars on letter "A"...LOL, maybe he isn't that good of a 'risti as he thinks he is, afreall...

I have known a Paneresti for about a year now. He is in a round about way the reason I even stumbled across RWI. We met eachother at the gym. I ran into him at least 3 times a week. Being a lover of watches, I usually look at peoples wrist. I always noticed the extra large watches he wore. After we got to know each other a little better, I asked him about his watch. He went on for 10 minutes about a brand I was not at all familiar with. Panerai. He gave me a history lesson in the watch company, and then on the watch he was wearing. He owns 8 of them. Included in his collection is a 1950, and a circa WWII piece with a Rolex brevet crown. I cant remember the model # but it is his prize posession. He wears it on a genuine ammo strap. The gen buckle he has on it cost him $900.00 The guy knows and loves Panerai. He spoke with such passion about the watches, that I was interested in getting one. He suggested I go look at a couple of ADs in our city, and look at some good base models. He knew I had a budget of $3000.00 to $5000.00.
Before I made the trip to an AD, I started searching Panerai online. Guess what I found? RWI. The rest is history. I started doing my research on Panerai reps and bought a 11h and a 127 from Davidsen.
I finally bumped into him at the gym while wearing my 111. I was so nervous. I took the watch off in the locker room while changing and did not mention it to him the first couple of opportunities.
I finally showed him my new 111h the other day. I took it off my wrist, and handed it to him. His first comments were how good looking the watch was, and then I saw a puzzled look on his face.
While inspecting the Savage strap, he commented on the buckle. He asked it that was a Panerai buckle? He had never seen a Panerai logo buckle that looked like that. It was the buckle that came on the rep strap. I replied that "It is a rep". He asked, "did you get it on E-bay or something"? He was referring to the buckle. I explained that the whole thing was a rep. His eyes bugged out. "You are putting me on right"? He actually thought the watch was genuine. He then started to inspect the watch alot closer. He said the watch was awesome. He could not beleive that reps are done so well. The movement, finish, feel and look are superb. He did comment that the only thing, aside from the buckle that caught his eye was the AR. He thought the AR was a little blue for an H model, but did not say anything because he figured it was the lighting in the gym.
He also loved the Savage strap. He said that he has a couple of buddies that own some, but he does not. Has also seen his work on Paneresti.com
I told him that as soon as I could I would show him the 127 and he can compare it to his. He also wants to see my other 4 Savage straps that I have.
He is convinced now more than ever that no one should ever buy a watch online. Some of the reps are that good!

Today, I am wearing a Savage buckskin with minimal stitch. Its one of my favorites. I will see my Panersti friend again later this week. I will have my 127 and all of my straps in the gym bag for him to see. He says its a good idea to buy a rep and test drive it before you invest in your genuine. With reps this good. Do you really need the gen?

No, it's just sort of a buckskin color. I think he's talking about this one:

Sadly, I don't have any of that particular leather left. But, I do have another small piece that's close. I think enough for three or four straps maybe.

Actually it's not quite true that I don't have any left. I do have one "blank" that's already cut out. But, it's 26/26 and 140/80, so I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for or not.

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Ok...I ran into my Paneristi friend at the gym this evening. I had on my Ultimate 127 from Davidsen. As soon as I could, I went up to him and took the watch off my wrist and handed it to him. He inspected it very closely. Once again, he could not beleive how good this rep is. I wish he would have had his 127 on so we could compare them side by side. He was wearing his 232. The only thing he pointed out was the color of the fonts were a bit off from his and of course the AR. The AR on my 127 is more blue than my 111. He also commented that the CG was a little high. By that he meant closer to the 12 o'clock than the 6 o'clock. He was not as certain about the CG as he was the font color and AR. Once again he was shocked at how well this rep was made, and how close to his gen that it is. He said its scary to think that even a Paneresti at a glance would not call the watch out as a rep. He said that if he had not had the chance to closely inspect the watch (Ar aside) he would not have known it was a rep. :D
