Ok, here I go with my stupid question, and what better place than the Flame-Free section? In advance, I apologize if this topic has been treated in another thread or rule, but I've been reading rules and new member docs for hours, and I haven't seen this topic pop up, or maybe I missed it, bugged from reading for hours and going through posts. I also used the search function, but there are no clear conversations about this.

Ok, without going into the details about the legal risks of selling them in retail America—which, believe it or not, pretty much everybody and their mom is selling bust-down Moissanite Cartiers, APs, and Rolex super clones in plain daylight at every mall (at least in the Mid-East)—the question is:

Is there anyone with previous experience in ordering multiples of them? And if so, could there be a price negotiation? I'm talking about, for example, buying 20 watches for resale purposes. Would a trusted dealer maybe be flexible on the price and offer a "wholesale" discount so the buyer could mark up some percentage while selling?

Well try it
How better to know than to ask?

Many of the TD have a reseller program on their website

Edit : but if the plan is to buy wholesale and resell here, you are in for a world of hurt 🤣

Hm.

I'm personally not entirely sure.

I have seen some FB people reach some type of drop shipping agreement with some unknown source and then keeping some stock in the US.

But the prices I have seem them sell them for has been higher than what our TD sells to the general public.

I don't feel entirely sure if our TD'S are willing for that type of collaboration and negotiating.

Correct, well I guess I would let you guys know in the future.

But the reason I was asking is because I know some jewelry wholesalers in America are carrying them, so they are either getting them from this sort of dealers or directly from the factory then, in that case probably through an agency that buys for them and ships.

Your approach is not exactly clever. Compare our TDs with a small retailer who specializes in good advice and very difficult long-nosed customers and has taken this into account in his pricing. It's like the small computer store on the corner. Such stores are not necessarily the first port of call if you want to place a large order.
So if you're really looking for wholesale prices, you should also go to a dealer who does wholesale - but then don't expect noobfriendly service, advise, good QCs or the option of rejecting watches if an index seems to be 0.0005 degrees off ;-)
It should be clear that RWI is the wrong place to ask for such dealers.

I actually think that some TDs surely would agree to do this if you in turn agree to accept the shipping risks (lost or seized shipments, for example...).

Also, for a relatively tiny amount, such as only 20 pieces per model, they could offer you a decent discount that's fair to you, but still way, WAAAAY below the actual wholesale price —so they'd still retain a nice profit margin for themselves.

You won't know for sure until you start inquiring.

PS: But I don't think you could target rep communities with this approach, rather you'd have to become one of the overpriced merchants on Facebook and Instagram without any support or after sales service, unless you're happy with just making 20 or 30 bucks per watch. Like @JayBee0815 already touched, this is a side business approach to make a few extra bucks, not an actual sustainable business plan. 😄

Yes, correct. At the end of the day, retail in the US would be higher anyway. The customer is paying for the assurance that they are not getting scammed by a false dealer, they are not waiting for shipping with a risk of confiscation, etc. So technically, the retailer takes on the sourcing and the risk, and then the end customer pays for that on top of the cost. At least, this is how it goes with the Moissanite Cartiers. They are selling for up to $3,000, and $1,500 is the cheapest you’ll get them from a wholesaler, who likely purchased from one of these TDs. Believe it or not there is a lot of people that will just pay in the mall holding the watch in their hand $500 above the price they see in the internet just for the confort of avoiding the online risks

Anyways I don’t think TDs will go much lower than what they already offer

OK, just documenting here for future reference. I ended up pulling the trigger using Christmas discounts, which were better than the wholesale deal I was given, which was only 6%.

I haven't gone through all the TDs, but I think at this point, getting them cheaper is not realistic unless going there directly, making a direct deal with the factory becoming a dealer, and having a shipping haven location where they can be shipped safely, which would have to be probably a hong kong agency...
