Yeah yeah, we all have read this noob question a billion times. Stupid noobs...lol.
I just wanted to share my sub story for the rolex fans of the board. Let's start with the build list which took me about 9 months to source. You might have seen my wanted ads for a Sean case several months back, here is what that first ad amounted to.
- SEAN CASE 1:1 to gen.
After buying and owning many TC subs and never finding the satisfaction, I just had to have the Sean case. I had ads out for several months until one day my PM box had an unread message from another member saying he had a case he might be selling. Offers back and forths and finally we had decided on a price for the legendary Sean case to be mine.
- TC latest bezel assembly, gen click spring: the best!
- genuine ROLEX Insert 16610 pointy four LN
A modern sub insert, just perfect condition. Why, I bought it brand new.
- Genuine ROLEX "5 sec" dial brand new old stock from the manufacturers caves. A wonderful find since these are never new today. A perfect addition to my Sean, don't you think?
- Genuine ROLEX LN hands set
How do you best match a NOS dial? By sourcing the same year NOS submariner hands set of course. Struggled to find them, but definitely worth the wait.
- genuine ROLEX AR LEC crystal, non service
Yes, I know, it's not period correct, but it's a common update and besides, it's the slickest look for the sub (I base that last comment on my own opinion of course). Very nice
- genuine ROLEX Crown NOS
A must for a super Franken.
- genuine Tube & Gaskets
Check!
- Bracelet
Made of several ingredients, TC v5 SEL's, shaved, v3 links, 93250 stamped links and...
- genuine ROLEX Clasp and divers ext
...make this bracelet a one of a kind with perfect sel fitment and all that good stuff! A bitch to source though. I don't recommend it.
- YUKI movement
I thought the build was either worthy a gen movement, or something equal to gen, a specially built yuki 3135 movement. I had this movement built by a guy who has worked for rolex many years, some might know him...some never will. So he added the...
- genuine ROLEX reverse wheels
...A perfectionists upgrade for the yuki, making it solid, almost as solid as the cal 3135. As if that wasn't enough, I was lucky enough to be able to buy a...
- genuine ROLEX cal3135 auto winding bridge
...also, which was fitted right before the movement went on the time graph and was set in COSC time.
- genuine ROLEX NOS date disc
Was the last part added to the movement and date centering is perfect in the date window/magnification.
- genuine ROLEX box
Completely unnecessary accessory, but if feel it's fun to present the build in its original box with the original documents. I'm a total nerd. LOL
To the pictures and I really hope you enjoy looking at it, even though you probably have seen a million of these rolex submariners over the years...
Thanks for reading and if you have time to comment on the build, please do.
Please don't ask what it cost to build this, this is all I ask. It's depressingly expensive!!!
