Which Omega for a dress watch

I want to pick between these two Omegas for a dress watch. What's the feeling between the 'new' Master Coaxial Tresor and the white faced Aquaterra. I think the reports have been pretty decent for the AT, but I believe there hasn't been enough time for folks to get their hands on the Tresor yet to know. Comparing the Master coax to the gen photos, the textured face seems to be the weak point .... So it's somewhat about which is the best rep, But it's as much about which look do most of you favour for dress use.

These pics aren't the best cuz they are nabbed from the TDs websites and I don't have access to the actual watches to get better quality pics. But you get the idea anyway.

And please don't tell me to get both just so I can report back. :0)

As far as reps go .... Railmasters now aren't all that great from what I understand. The thick number thing. Not as good as they used to be and unavailable for quite some time. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one cuz I'd be interested. The Railmaster does have that nice classic look. Also depends whether you want a white or black face too.

I'd go gen vintage for a dress watch, there are many good ones out there with class and style.

That's been a serious thought too. Been looking a lot at vintage. As my dad used to say. "The more I looks, the more confusened I gets."

What about the Hour Vision rep? If you go gen then I would go for the Stalingrad... gives the Patek Gondolo a run for it's money....

Ouch I meant the Petrograd (got my Soviet Geography mixed up), it's the museum n°7 I think: http://www.omegablogger.com/archives/123#more-123

Now that I am writing on this thread: I found the Trésor with black dial for sale now with several TD's: although I like the black dial immensely, it is a fantasy watch right? I didn't find any trace of it online, except on rep sites … ? Can anyone enlighten me there? If it's not a fantasy rep, I'm gonna buy it right away :)

Wow ! No kidding. Might be inclined to get the black anyway if it's good quality. Which TD's have it? Haven't seen it. Anyone reported on the Tresor rep yet?

Found it. .... Lists as DeVille Master Coaxial. At least I'm assuming that's it. It's got that nice simple vintage look but in a bigger case. 40 mm vs 34 for most of the gen vintage. Guess there's no way to tell the timeline on V2 huh.

Does this 'new' one represent a V2 then? What were the other tells on it? And have they been changed or is it just the crystal and movement.

The main tell as far as I can see is that the Omega text, logo etc on the dial is printed on a raised surface instead directly on the hobnail surface as per gen... In terms of pure looks this means that the rep is nicer than the gen... but not accurate. Thr decorated movement is very gen like in appearance though.

I for one is getting the Sapphire crystal version... not to concerned about tells, more interested in the the overall aesthetics of the watch and this is spot on for me even though I prefer the vintage early 60's Omegas with small sub second.

I agree about the overall look as well. That's more important for what I want it for too. But I'm torn between this and the Rolex Explorer I, the PP Calatrava 5227 and this. All about the same size, but with obviously different appearance. There is a simpler vintage look to them, except maybe he Explorer , but the size of these vs the 34 mm size of vintage gives it more presence. Having both of course is ideal. Do you Favorite white or black dials for a dress watch. Stainless or rose gold. The black and gold looks stunning. Stainless and white is clean and smart looking in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of rose gold at all, White/silver textured or sunburst dial, stainless on black croc is eqaually as nice as black dial with all yellow gold case hands etc, also on black croc.

Rolex or PP is not my cup of tea, A Junghans Meister, hand wind, on the other hand or a vintage Max Bill are both really nice dress watches.
