Not sure to be honest.
In my experience if the watch has not been "flooded" by humidity and water the only damages can come from the sunlight (some colors can fade away on hands and dial).
Or poor care when handling dial, movement, hands swap.

Flooding would make sense to explain certain kinds of damage. I appreciate your shared opinions.
