These companies share a heritage of sorts. Debaufre's (American company) designer left for Steinhart (European company). There are bad feelings at Debaufre, as I recall reading in a gen forum.

Thanks to TommyBoy for sending me a link which states that the two companies are one and the same. They just operate under different names in EU vs. US.

Not exactly, Steinhart had to change the name in US (TM deposed..). This is the same company with the same products but not the same name that's all...:lol:

Actually, Yannou, they have parted ways during the last year. So, they aren't really afiliated with each other anymore. However, you're correct, Debaufre started out as Steinhart USA, but was forced to change the name for doing business in the US. I believe their only link anymore is that the watch designer in question is now an independent and does freelance/contract work for both companies.
