Well I am nearing my completion of a 111. With the T-48 ordered its time to find a nice CG for it. I have it narrowed down to two. The one on the left is a DSN and the other is a new CG I got from a different forum. I leaning towards the one on the right. But any suggestions you all have would help. Thanks in advance

I like the one on the right as well. Looks like a tighter fit, more 'gen'.

With a T48 crown, you'll likely have to file/sand down the lever to get it to fit. I put a T60 on my 176 & had to do the same as it's a lot fatter than a std rep crown.

WOW, I dont know which one is more accurate... But the one on the right sure looks to be well made. It took a second glance to see the lever pin. The only thing I question is the actual lever, it seems REALLY long.

The lever pin was made that way so that the cg feet wouldnt have to be sanded to fit the "deep dish" of the t-48 crown.

Not even a question... one on the right all the way...

One on the left would be correct for an auto or an A-F series watch...

Thanks you guys.

Now would the one on the left, the DSN, be a better cg for an ultimate 199. I dont know which cg would be better the one that came on the 199 or this DSN once is polished...thoughts?

You've got Snembo's CG don't you? That should be the one on the right... :)

It's a very well-made CG, and it doesn't need anything to tighten the lever too...

For 111H Snembo's will be closer to Gen. DSN's CG, hmmm... Maybe for a PreA? For PreV PAMs, it's still too thin for those...

Well guys I've started trying to fit the cg to the case. One side fits and then one side doesnt. Should I shave both feet or just the one thats not fitting? Any help would be great.

Coldi, if I were you I would find someone who has done those before. That looks like it is off by quite alot and its too nice of a CG to do a bad job on (not saying you would, just dont want to see that happen).
I have done a couple, and I WOULD NOT do it myself.
If you DO want to do it yourself, I would do both sides. It is going to be minutely uneven if you only do one side and you should be able to take less off of each side if you do both.

I think it's a matter of trial & error. Just a little bit at a time.

On the one hand, you want it to remain parallel to the case which probably means taking some off of both sides.

At the same time, you have to be careful not to take too much off of the lever side or it will end up too close to the case.

I cant think of anyone off hand... I am sure there are people out there who do it.
Give it a try I guess... just go very slow and make sure to use a flat surface and keep going at the same angle.
I wish there was a way to create a jig so that the CG could be mounted, you would measure the angle of the case and then adjust the jig so that it was at the correct angle... Damn that sounded stupid...
I know there are jigs made for sharpening knives, and that is what I am thinking of......... You clamp the knife in, adjust the angle and then you can ONLY sharpen it at that exact angle.

OR, you have a doner CG... carve that one down perfect, and then use that as a template for the good one. Lay the doner on top of the good one (once it has been perfectly shaped) use a thin point sharpie to mark the good one, and than sand it till all the black is gone.

I was thinking of getting small grit sand paper and cutting thin straps and holding it long ways on the case and moving the cg up and down so that it takes the form of the case.

@cbr...thought about the doner cg but this one is more curved so I think that it still wouldnt line up :(

Well after about 4 hours of sanding with a 400 grit sandpaper I think I'm finally finished shaping the cg. Now to bust out a dremel and file down the lever so that it will fit snugg with the t48. Thanks for everyones help. This is how it turned out. You will notice its raised just a tad (can only see it inches from your face or in a macro) but I was afraid IF I shaved any more I would shave the feet down too far which would not allow me to pull the crown out fully to set the time.

PS Sorry for the tape...I covered everything so I wouldnt get any metal dust anywhere :)

EDIT...never noticed that nick. WTF. I hate macros. Any way to brush that down....Its ALWAYS SOMETHING
