Hey guys, my A2824 is running choppy and doing a poor job holding the power reserve. Where do you guys buy your new Swiss ETA's.

I wanna swap mine out.

Wholesaleoutlet carries them for $165.00. Any other options?

I remember R2 telling me that there are stem/crown height issues. Make sure you get his input. Good luck!

That's about the going price anywhere. You might try a top of the line Asian Seagull ST2130. I was just giving some thought to trying one myself. You'll save yourself about $100.

I wonder what the reliability would be on the ST2130. How much different wouldn't it be from buying another A2824?

Q, I'll make sure to consult with R2 before I make my next move.

I just happened to be looking around for an ETA and ran across some pretty good write ups on them on one of the gen forums. I'm kinda curious myself. They sure are a lot prettier than the std grade ETA.

Where is this movement from? Could this movement be used to replace a 4813?

Nope, unless you change the hands. And the dial feet wont fit.

It's a direct replacement for an ETA 2824-2 though.

Reviews look good on this movement. I was never aware of this. Got me thinking now...anyone here ever use one? Apparently they run harder and more accurate than the Asian 2824 clones...

Haven't tried one myself, but have tried plenty of out of the box DG2813 a21j from suppliers like cousins and they ran beautfully. At the prices in comparison to the 2824 lately I'd be more than happy to give a few of these a run. Haven't had any rep based 2824's asian or otherwise break down on me here of late so so far so good...they are a great cheap alternative providing they are a straight swap!

Anyone in the states have the Asian Seagull ST2130? Shipping from AU puts the price back up to close to a 2824.

I just pulled the trigger on a new and authentic Seagull ST2130. It cost me $102.00 delivered from Portugal. I will likely have it in the next 2 weeks.

Reviews on this movement have been very good. I've read numerous stories on swaps with previous 2824's and they went in without modifications. This will add some more character to my FrPo I guess.

I'll keep you guys posted. I am way more confident in Seagull movements than the generic asian clones coming out of the rep factories.

Excellent Om3ga_guy, keep us posted, I'm reading nothing but good reviews about them, it'll be great to hear how it goes. These are a much cheaper solution than eta 2824 for our reps. In the UK...almost £100 cheaper atm. Bloody swiss and their markups!

I have to admit the ST1801 looks like a great prospect for our a2892 reps aswell!

Thanks all. I tell you, this FrPO is costing me a fortune. MUCH MUCH more than the FrSMP-007. I must be up and around the $900.00 mark and I still need to have the movement installed + the HE valve done.

Yikes...

Jeez......that's one hell of an outlay on a rep. By the time you're finished you must be half way to the price of a used gen.

Look forward to seeing the pics when it's done. :)

Yeap, i know, every time i think the money spent in there, i am like, wtf have you done...???
But next second i am like, you rock!!!!!!!
The only reason i will ever sell it is because i will buy the gen, or i wont have money to buy food and i really dont know which one will happen first....

Well a gen 42mm PO is up and around $2500.00 CDN so i'm still doing quite well. I'll be around $1k (watch + parts + modding) by the time this babies done and i'll have a new movement in it...

Some of the "other guys" i'm sure have exceeded well over me.

All in all, its personally been OK for me. The costs tied to my project are always incremental. I don't blow the $$$ in once shot. I'll mod a few thing here and there. At the end of the project its like WHHHAAABAM!

I was very lucky with my movement. Katt did not need to do a thing to it. it still keeps great time and winds smooth.

My FrPO is right at $750 for the watch head. (Thank goodness R2 was able to do the pearl swap!)
