I hope it wasn't taken that I don't care about the people selling us our watches cause in fact I do. I don't like the idea of there lives being destroyed, I would hope my buying from them helps there quality of life. All I was saying was when it comes to pricing of merchandise, it's always a matter of supply and demand that dictates prices of goods. If supply heavily out weighs demand price goes down therefore markup decreases. If demand heavily out weighs supply then markup increases. So the ending result is if the illegality of these items decreases the amount of people willing to sell them decreases supply. This in turn increases the demand and allows them to increase markup. I really don't care about the markup, if the merchandise meets my needs at the price I'm willing to pay I'm happy even if it cost them $3.00 and they sell for $300.00.

Cents not nets

Great point,,,, I'm a business owner and if I can get away with 7 or 8 cents on the dollar at the end of the year I'm a very lucky guy! And then the freaking government comes around! Lol:facepalm:

You're in construction, so you know that after O&P you're lucky to see5-8%.

Exactly! Even with a 100% markup a store can be making a few cents on the dollar after expenses. Dealer's have expenses as well such as fines and bribes, watches lost to customs (in what other trade would you see your goods replace because importing them into your country is illegal?), the cost of "free" airmail shipping, packing materials, repairs and returns and other stuff such as a website (covert hosting isn't cheap). The markup required in retail to turn a profit is huge.

I was just hangin' out with Chan and told him what I paid for this PO. He either thinks I overpaid or he noticed that damn pearl. Dunno, I was hurt and just walked away.

The question is: Is $50.00 profit a sale a good job in China? Would a comparable LEGAL sales job in China bring more profits than rep dealing?

Look at the sale prices we see occasionally, and factor in some reasonable dealer profit on those too (no one is going through the headache for $10). That should give you some idea what sort of profits are embedded in the business . What the split of those profits is between the factory and the dealer, I wouldn't know.
