What should I use to stain white stitching on my kw359 strap?

Just checked my PAM359 KW V3 and yeah, the thread is white. *sigh* The previous pre-P9000 movement PAM 359 V4 came with a rep strap with beige stitching. I mean it is a rep strap at the end of the day, but we care about the rep watches they come with so why shouldn't we care about the accuracy of the strap as well?

By v3 you mean v2 with st2555 seagull movement correct? I thought v3 was a misnomer. I will let you know how my ghetto tea staining works.

PAM 359 has not KW V3 version because there are only two versions from KW

KW V1 is with decorated A7750
KW V2 is fitted with Seagull

It is advisable to add KW before the version because there are old versions V1-V2-V3-V4.... from other makers

It is different in KW PAM 388 and PAM 505 because they have three KW versions

V1- with Seagull, with lug screw issues
V2- with A7750, with corrected lug issues
V2-Seagull- with Seagull, with corrected lug issues

These are just my advices for calling the versions but people could do it as they like

If you insist on doing something to the strap you already have, then can you show a pic of it? Even a stock pic, or link to the TD website with said strap.

The problem is that the thread is 99.9% going to be synthetic. This means that the thread is basically a plastic. Plastic is not permeable and will not absorb dye (generally speaking here..)

The best you can hope to achieve is to perhaps give the strap a "vintage" look by washing it in some sort of darker solution. Or, restitch it with the desired color thread. If I saw the strap I could potentially restitch it for you.

At the end of the day you're on a fools errand. I have custom straps in my section on sale for child labor prices. You could pick up a brand new high end strap for about $50... Look in my section. You have to buy thread or ship the strap or buy some dye... Why not peel off an extra $20 and get a completely new strap that is 10,000 times better?

I just used a furniture touch up pen in a very light brown worked perfectly to match the patina of the lume and dial fonts. Too bad this version didn't come with a better strap but I agree with others that you can do better for about $50.

Don't be surprised if "modding" your rep strap eventually turns into the realization that you would like to make your own straps and/or find an interest in leather working. That was one of the things that did it for me. :)

Good luck! And just PM tootall, I think he said he wanted to make you a custom strap for free. :p4gtr:

Tea was too light. Instant coffee diluted in a little water (espresso dark) and a Q-tip worked very easily. I already ordered another brown strap though. Great watch.

Add a teaspoon of vinegar in a cup of strong coffee. The acidity in the solution makes for a more permanent 'stain'. Also if you have a medicine dropper, use a drop in every stitch, so got it stained inside and out, and finish it off with a hair dryer on low ........... the ole' fashioned way..............

good advice, although the acidity of the coffee is why i chose to use it in the first place.

this morning i darkened it a shade with some kiwi instant shine brown i had in my drawer. Perfect color imo.

Panatime Chestnut Bronco on my new PAM359.... watch took on a whole new look from the black leather.... whilst it is also a nice look, the chestnut really suits the colour tones of the numerals and text on the dial...
