It's a NOS from MBW - when he passed away years ago everything was sold - until now. His window found a stash of watches (heads only) and spring bars. A member from Thailand was able to source these through his wife and she had a few COMEX but mostly 5513 and 5512. I scooped up this one right away because i noticed a few things unique to a MBW Comex that I did not see in previous or current comexes that are offered by various vendors.
- The HEV is recessed - this is HUGE for me as the HEV has to be recessed to look GEN. All reps I've seen has the HEV protrude out of the case - a lot of people have to mod their case to have a recessed HEV.
- Both dial and hands has vintage lume already!
- The dial is gorgeous! Stock! It has great print details, and lumes pre-lumed in a vintage lume that looks dim, and reflects the age of the watch like how Tritium lume would be if this was a real comex.
- The case finishing is beautiful - it's soft and not hard like a new cartel.
To be perfect I was going to get the case reshaped to a pointer CG and age the dial and hands further. However, after receiving it and seeing how beautiful it is I haven't been able to bring myself to do that. Still debating
Yup I have read his blog. But besides dial and insert they are all Chinese parts. Just you would think if the cases are coming from China, why is he the only one that can source them? U know? And what about his FD YM? That's factory direct so I'm surprised no one in China can get them from this factory. Surely they would want to sell to TDs to make more $$$
I'm not mad at the guy. Lol.. He has killer products and I have had every one of his subs since the "v2" where he shaved off the rehaut engravings. I just am always interested in knowing more.

From reading his blogs, he has agreements with his suppliers in China and they only sell to him. He does have a story on his blog about TC subs being spotted in China though.
I just got my TC LV on Monday and hopefully soon the TC YM will show up. I like his builds, the bracelet could use a good oil bath to loosen it up and give it that buttery smooth feeling, and the bezel is tight as hell too. I plan on doing side by side photos this weekend of my TC LV and BP LV then the BP will be up for sale lol
I bought a v2 LV insert and a v5 bracelet to swap on the BP but after seeing the TC LV and wearing it, there is simply no reason to keep the BP LV.

I'm trying to get the LEC but the lighting won't let me so that is the best pic I can get.
