Hi all, my movement has given up, but I love the watch and would like a recommendation on the best movement to buy to replace this one pictured.
I think the watch is a Noob.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

That's a very cheap Chinese movement.

The beat rate also isn't correct.

A new movement plus installation would be around 120-150$

Better off spending another 250 and get a brand new, up to date rep my friend

Hello and WELCOME to RWI from the official reception desk team!

You are receiving this reply either because you posted in the "New members say hi" section or because I spotted one of your first posts elsewhere. In the latter case, please consider going to the aforementioned section and introduce yourself.

If you haven't already, please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members section (all subsections) as they contain information for newbies and most importantly our forum rules! In particular, please take note of our sales rules, because you will be NOT yet eligible / allowed to sell as you need to meet certain criteria / be certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Also, this please take a look at this sticky thread:

We're always happy to help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

It's a 2836, so the beat rate is correct at 28,800bph.

I agree though, that thing has seen better days. I think they got their moneys worth out of an old noob. IMO, a VSF would be the solid upgrade choice.

Looks like it will take a standard 2824 clone. I can highly recommend the Seagull 2130. Rock solid and not put togther in a back street.
Bought one to run my Explorer 1016 build and serviced it before install. Got a little way in to to it before realising it really didn't need it. Nice parts, well lubricated and installed. Getting +/- 4 secs/ day at present.
Yes, it's high beat (28800) - but really, who's counting the trips/ second Versus good time keeping?

Oh my bad. I thought it was a 2813

On a second glance, are you sure this is a Noob? Because the dial and hands aren't from Noob. The case and bracelet don't appear to be either. This looks like a parts-bin special, especially the back of the SEL corners being ground down like most DHgate/Canal watches.

This. And the dial seems it that it actually is made to the ETA date position, not the correct Rolex position and an overlay.

100% everything said above.

If you can do the work yourself, Seagull movement all the way, especially if you have a connection with the watch.

Else, if you are paying someone, then buy a new watch.

Or do the work AND buy a new watch 😁

Well, okay. That's actually a good point: Sentimental value can be priceless.

I have vintage 1981 Seiko 5 from my late dad that's of course —under normal circumstances— not economical to get serviced or repaired. For the cost of a full service, you can get 2 or maybe even 3 perfect replacement pieces of this mass produced watch (or at least get the movement replaced 5 times over 😆). But neither of those would be "the actual one".
