I have seem many jokes refering to "Polex". I have one of my Subs that have "Polex" on it and also the "shitinerand" on the case back.

At one time somebody told me that it was the early MBW that had this on them. Can anyone tell me the history behind the "Polex" misspelled watches?

here is a picture of my eta tt dj polex. it is at least 5 years old. no problems with the gold and it matches my 18k jewelry perfectly. i have held it side by side with 1980's tt dj's and it is on it, open 6's, 9's and all. i will never sell it. 8)

I heard the misspellings were intentional, to avoid copyright infringment. Not sure if thats 100% correct, since the rest of the watch clearly has Rolex markings. Thats what I had heard though.

My WM 1680 has Polex inscribed between the lugs at 12 o'clock. "Orig Polex Design". Can't remember if the caseback says Gelena Shitinerand or not. Serial # at 6 o'clock is L431xxx, which is also kinda bogus for a Red Sub which should be in the 2-4 million range.
