What is the current state of Daytona reps?

Before I start emailing dealers random questions I thought I'd ask here.

Vintage daytonas:

DW and custom builds aside, what is the quality and availability of the vintage daytonas with the lemania, venus, seagull movements? Also, sometimes the ads indicate a full working chrono, other times a frozen hand, and sometimes the daytonas have calendars in the subdials. Those ones are super cheap.

Also, I've seen some dealers advertising 7750 based vintage daytonas though these are much rarer among dealer ads. I also don't see any reviews of them on the boards. What is up with these?

Newer daytonas:

I've read that the seconds @ 9 version of the newer daytonas are no longer available. Is that true? I want to stay away from the time bomb sec @ 6 versions. (I suppose that those are still available).

I would wait after Chinese New Year hopefully there will be a pleasant surprise, I wouldn't bother emailing dealers either unless it's asking if they have stock on a particular model. It has been confirmed the seconds at 9 has been discontinued, though some might still be in stock I would stay away from it due to it being *really* inaccurate.

I was suggesting Angus [Puretime] to suggest to the factories, to use the modified 7750 movement on the Planet Ocean chrono with correct sub-dial spacing to make a rep of the El Primero Daytona with seconds at 9 as the spacing is exactly the same as the gen. Sure, it would be a thick case but who cares except the most anal of people, if they're so anal why not get the gen, clearly they're not going to be satisfied with small crap like thickness of the case.

I'm crossing my fingers for a reliable Daytona, currently I have my vintage DW 6239 and love it, but I would love one of the newer ones. Domi says he was able to fix the seconds at 6 by adding jewels to the plates thus correcting the friction issue in the current model, but he says it's not easy nor cheap.

You'd think that for a popular model such as the Daytona they would've fixed this issue already, the "29 jewel" is pure B.s. and it still had the issue.

Ah I missed the part where you mentioned you wanted a vintage Daytona, my bad. All the trusted dealers have those. Send an email to one of them with the picture of the one you want and movement, in this case A7750.

Here's mine in case you can't decide on a Bakelite bezel or steel bezel:

I really like that silver dial without the red daytona!

I wouldn't mind picking up a vintage and a newer style Daytona but I've given on the later because of the whole seconds at 6 issue.

I have emailed one of our TDs who I have purchased from in the past but haven't heard back.

Any recommendation on a good dealer to deal with on a "can you get me this?" request?

I've also been in contact with DW but haven't heard back from him. He did say he had the silver dial daytona in stock but the rumors are that he's getting out of the business as well as dealing with family issues and it's CNYs so I'm trying to be patient.

Try Angus [Puretime]. Avoid the secs @ 6 right now, it will be a paper weight in no time.

Guanaco, is that a DW based rep or from some other source?

I just ordered a 16520 rep (seconds @ 9) and a silver / black dial 6263 with the 7750 movement from one of our TDs. Everybody has been saying the seconds @ 9 is out of stock but the dealer says no problem so we'll see how it goes.

We meant the newer model seconds at 9. :)

I love the two-tone daytona but don't feel like dealing with the mov't or the crappy gold plating, so I ended up with a two-tone invicta speedway. The plating on these get good reviews for longevity, and no one's calling it out as a rep, lol.

I've been lusting after the Speedway with the 57 jewel Dubois Depraz movement. I'd hate to see what it costs to service that bad boy.
