What does US customs do with confiscated reps?

From reading the forums it seems like a percentage of watches have always gotten confiscated during shipping. Maybe the sky is falling but I wonder if the US clampdown on global trade will make that number go up. My guess is that customs then determines if the watch is not genuine and destroys it. But reps seem so good that has got to be tricky.

Does anyone know what customs does with the reps?

Oh absolutely—customs agents totally have a weekly “Fake Watch Friday” where they gather ‘round, swap seized reps like Pokémon cards, and vote on who scored the best “destruction.”

“Yo Jerry, that iced-out Hublot? Straight to evidence locker section VIP. Destroyed it on the yacht last weekend—justice never sleeps, bro.”

Meanwhile, the Rolex with the spelling error? Yeah, that one gets fed to the office Roomba. It's a whole system.

Just kidding. 😆 I have no idea. I guess they get returned to the sender?

Destruction here in Switzerland cannot be ordered by customs. They communicate with Brand lawyers, which will and can order a destruction. So technically correct I believe wont be that customs do anything than their job: not letting items pass and come into country.
but yes, destruction is on the table.

I think some customs officials have found another way to deal with confiscated replica watches.
I bought a 16610 in another forum about 10 years ago and was very pleased with how well-made the watch was (for the time) when it arrived.
Since I had the return address and the seller's name (he had provided his real name and address when shipping), I did some research and found him in another forum.
In this forum, he shared personal details and also mentioned that he works as a customs officer at Frankfurt Airport.
(This was confirmed after further research).
On the one hand, I was pleased with the beautiful watch, but on the other hand, I couldn't help thinking that maybe some poor guy was sitting somewhere in Germany waiting for his watch.
I don't want to accuse the seller at the time; perhaps he bought the watch himself.

Idk but a couple of those mofos are walking around with my gear. I've had a handful go missing at the airport and never a single official seizure notice.
