What did I just buy?!

A little review written out of an amount of chock I got when I first tried the watch. I bought this one (ARF RG V2): https://puretimewatch.io/daytona-11...-black-rubber-strap-a4130-super-clone-v2.html

And believe it or not, I waited 9 MONTHS for it. First one got confiscated. The 2 Daytonas after that had bad QC and sent back to factory and at last the 4th one arried today.

First of all the watch is very lightweight, which I had anticipated, but this felt too lightweight. My Hublot is at least 4 times heavier.

Second (and the reason for this thread) is the rotor. It is SO LOUD 📢📢📢. I mean you don’t even have to put your ear against the watch at all. You can reach an armlength and still hear it. Also the whole watch wobbles because of it. It’s a dead giveaway. It’s not even a giveaway since you can hear it across the room. That’s how bad it is and I'm not exaggerating, believe me. This is ridiculous and makes the watch practically unwearable.

Don't get me wrong, the watch and dial is beautiful and Puretime has been good as always. But this is after all a $500 Daytona, not the cheap ones. So I wasn’t expecting this at all and am very disappointed since it makes the watch basically unwearable.

Is there ANY fix for this and how circumstantial is the fix?

I've been eyeing the Clean Factory Daytona 116500 from Puretime too. I wonder if it's as loud.

It's easy to think that I'm exaggerating when I say you can hear it across the room. But trust me, I'm not. The rotor is extremely loud, I don't know how this is a $500 Daytona. The lightweight doesn't really matter since you wear the watch but the loudness of the rotor 🤯

I've not heard about this from others, perhaps you have a rogue one. I'd be interested to find out if anyone else has had a similar experience with this version.

This is my thinking (opinion). When I go after the mid-range of watches like EWF/ARF/etc I am always disappointed and sell them right away. There are advantages to buying the top tier. One is that you get QCs MUCH faster because they are more popular. Two is that they are really on point with weight, thickness, movement, etc. (meaning the only 'tells' is you, the person, and not the watch on the wrist). Some would ask... is it worth double the price? Yes, it is.

But a rotary noise is pretty easy to fix. Open up the back of the case and add a drop of watch lubricant to the center of the ball bearing on the rotary and let it do its magic.

I ordered this watch in december 2021, 9 months ago as I wrote so the $1000 QF SA4130 wasn't out yet. Not that I know the quality of QF but anyway.

Ok, must it be specifically watch lubricant or is it okay with ordinary lubricant oil?

Personally, I use Moebius microgliss. Some would say, why use a $40 lube on a rep? Because I have gens that I use it on as well. I also spend a couple of hundred bucks getting a service and waterproof too when I buy nice reps so they last, and it protects my investment of the piece. Some don't do service until it breaks, which is fine too.

In terms of Daytona, I would stick to Clean for every model except the 116500 black dials (as most would probably agree) as QF isn't up to the same standards.

ARF Daytona movements are unique. The A7750 was modified to make it thinner and this caused the 3 and 9 subdials to be frozen. Also a nonstandard rotor is used which is lighter and thinner to accommodate the 4130 deco plate. These rotors make more noise. They also fail to autowind efficiently so PR suffers. This arrangement can be improved by removing the deco plate and swapping in a real 7750 rep or gen rotor.

How about the white dial Clean 116500 (panda), are they any good?

Why is the black dial an exception?

For starters, you bought junk. That's not a super clone, that's a mid level rep. You get what you paid for. Another $300 you coulda had a less loud rotor and working chronograph. Sell the watch to someone, and save up for a better rep if you're going to be so picky.

Lol a 4130 isn't less loud.

And the arf isn't a mid level rep either. It still is in many regards a high quality rep.

keep telling yourself that as i live with my quiet 4130s and you live with your motor of a rotor. we have modders on here that will make your rotors quiet if you put in the money.

I have to strongly disagree. ARF is absolutely mid-teir at best. They make great bracelets and the occasional old YM. But for the price of a VSF, which IS considered high-end compared to an ARF, I don't think there is much to debate. And NONE of my 4130s are loud at all.

OP don't go blaming your TD for this either, own up to the mistake and come up with a solution without sending the watch back. You'll regret sending it back even more than buying it. If you love the watch, take it to a watchsmith locally and ask them if they can silence the rotor on a replica rolex and you'll pay for it. No matter the cost, and if they break something but tell them it's very valuable to you, "it was a gift from a relative or something." Keep calling until one says sure, I own reps myself come on in.

You can also just remove the rotor and let it be a hand wind rep. No rotor noise at all.

I didn't say it's a super clone. You think I bought junk. Junk would be a $250 Daytona. Not a $500 one. Even though it's not the highest grade Daytona, I think people would agree it can be called a decent grade Daytona. And to me a decent grade watch should not be this loud.

As for the high grade one with the clone 4130 movement: as I wrote, I ordered this watch in december 2021. There were no Noob Daytonas available and the clone 4130 Daytonas out right now (QF) came out just 1,5 months ago.

Again, I didn't say I blame the TD. I literally wrote the opposite "Don't get me wrong, the watch and dial is beautiful and Puretime has been good as always". But I guess you still got me wrong, no matter what I wrote.

I just ordered a Rolex caseback opening tool and will try oceaons solution with the lubricant and we'll see.
