I'm still thinking about my next purchase, but a nice classic watch tempts me well. Maybe an Omega Seamaster or a Rolex Explorer, depending on the opportunities. I like timeless models that remain elegant for any occasion. And you, what is your next acquisition ?

This won’t be a popular one but my next Gen is the Squale 50 atmos.

Trying to source it used to save a little bread but not many out there.
I think it’s such an awesome looking full lume dial.

Guys, I placed an order for the new Daytona with diamond markers because it looked really nice in person. Paid 10% to place the order with my AD and now its here. Should I collect it or loose the 10%? It took 2 months to get it and in the meantime I went out an bought a full gold 116618LB and now im not so sure I want the TT. I tried changing to the full gold Daytona but they told me not possible lol.

What would you do? Get it and try to sell it or just leave the 10% and walk away?

Lose the 10%??? Why? Take it, Sell it in the secondary market. If money is not an issue for you - as it seems - do a little mark-up and it will also sell fast.

Looking at the Longines spirit 37mm, but with the amount iv spent lately I may have to settle for the khaki field 38mm to scratch the itch

Why not go one step further and go for a Chinese homage? Addiesdive or Milfortic or Baltany do great homages of this

They look pretty good, but I can’t get excited about anything with an NH movement anymore, can’t explain it but it just puts me right off

Fair enough. It's just that you and I both know you'll buy it, feel some kind of tingling and joy for 30 days, and then think about your next one

With the gen watches, you'll lose $200-300.

With the homages, they only cost $100-150 so the cost is less than the loss you'd have on the gen watches.

Are ADs even allowed to take deposits for watches?
Thanks for your input guys, yeah I think I will loose more than the 10% when I sell it second hand, prices seem to be lower than list price but maybe its easy to sell since it will brand new and unworn. Or maybe I just pick it up and see if I like it, and if not try to sell it. I paid just under 3k euros in deposit for it, as I understand it, it´s because of the dial configuration, but I dont know this is actually my first purchase through an AD

Couldn't agree more, especially if you're playing with kinds of sums. Take the piece and move it on yourself, regardless of how long it takes you'll still have movement. They're taking the p*ss

Which are your Chinese favorites? Love the Miltado but never actually bought it

Agree 100%, however in this game there is no cold hard logic. We always want more :ROFLMAO:

I actually own a gen Hamilton Khaki which I legitimately feel is one of the worst entry level watches that people shill out, the lack of AR is a killer on that watch. If I had to get one I'd get the cheap ass $60 Addiesdive.

My favorite Chinese homage.... hard to say.... right now I'm only interested in Militado's IWC 36mm homage and one or two San Martin models. But mainly my focus is on reps.

Jianghun has shown some cool stuff that I'd love to try out as well, that lire-lug reverse watch diver looks amazing.

The problem with Chinese homages is they become hard to sell - while you may not lose money on them, I would rather save up the money to buy other watches. 10 $100 Chinese homages adds up very quickly.

For me, the problem with "homages" for that kind of watch in particular - vintage milspec - is, they do look good, they're solidly build, BUT they lack the vintage feel. They'Re reproductions more than homages. If they had a bit more of a reinterpreting twist, I'd call them homages. If you know what I mean. Maybe the Murph / Khaki field would cut it, but not a WW2 Dirty Dozen reproduction.
