Let's talk for a moment about Porsche...
The German automotive brand Porsche has a history of innovation, engineering excellence, and performance that spans over 80 years. The company was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, a Czech-German automotive engineer who previously worked as chief engineer at Mercedes-Benz and on Volkswagen vehicles. Porsche's son-in-law Anton Piëch and Adolf Rosenberger, a key figure in the creation of Auto Union, were also involved in the company's founding.
The company's first projects began in 1930 in St. Ulrich, Austria, in Porsche's son Ferry's bedroom. In 1931, the company was officially incorporated as "Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH, Konstruktionen und Beratung für Motoren und Fahrzeuge" in Stuttgart, Germany, and offered services such as engine and vehicle design and consultancy. The company's innovative design capabilities were demonstrated by the patenting of torsion bar suspension in 1931.
Porsche's first car, the Porsche 64, was produced in 1938, and the company has since produced many other legendary vehicles, including the Porsche 356, 550 Spyder, 911, and Macan Turbo. Porsche cars are also known for their racing success, with an estimated 24,000 auto race wins worldwide, including more than 50 class wins at Le Mans.
Porsche is perhaps best known for their innovations with the boxer, or "flat-six" engine. An evolution of the flat-four boxer engine used in the original Volkswagen Beetle, the flat-six engine is most often associated with their 911 model, Porsche's flagship rear-engined sports car which has used flat-six boxer engines exclusively since 1963.
One of many interesting developments available on new Porsche vehicles is the factory sport exhaust system. This system is a valve/vacuum driven system, and Porsche automobiles fitted with this optional feature allow the owner to choose between two levels of sound by the push of a button. On some models with Sport Plus activated the valves will remain open not just under mechanical load, creating a throatier, more "sporty" exhaust note.
@992TurboS , I'd like to invite you to peruse Porsche's factory performance brochure, select an exhaust system that's right for you, and once you have give me a turbocharged direct-injected, liquid-cooled tongue kiss on my butthole.
