Ugoderosa: Thanks, and I like your Quartzoguese! I'm really happy with that shot, and how the LLD ended up looking like it was drawn on Illustrator! Very little processing, other than a slight color and contrast adjustment in Photoshop CS4.
I use a Canon G9 as an all-around, go-anywhere camera. I like to travel, and I can't see myself carrying an SLR + lenses around wherever I go. For high-detail, macro still shots, the G9 (current generation is G12) has an image quality that equals SLRs.
Just remember that for macro shooting, the camera you use is far less important than good lighting and a steady hand/platform. It helps to be able to manually focus, and adjust apertures and shutter speeds, but you can do a lot with a more casual point'n'shoot, or even an iPhone. The IQ of your phone is very, very good.
